Stopped here just over an hour ago and the sun came out - so amazing with every branch covered in snow and a bit of mist. We had snow all the way through from 10.30am to 3pm- no sleet or rain. Very happy as it has made everything look beautiful but the roads are relatively clear now although the side roads were a bit treacherous for a while. If it freezes overnight the school run will be tricky in the morning...- 861 replies

Update from High Wycombe: I'm well inside the green sleety area according to the radar, but we still have snow. Falling fast, alternating between small and large flakes. Not settling on roads and pavements but the trees are looking beautiful. Hope the evaporative cooling continues and we don't lose what we have!- 861 replies

Beautiful big fluffy flakes here - snowing heavily. We're right on the border of pink and green on the radar though...

Morning all! Woke up 2 am having been under the pink radar blob for hours - nothing. Woke up just now and we have a covering on car, grass and trees. Was still snowing lightly but now stopped. Beautiful!- 739 replies

I'm even more west of London and I'm not even sure I should be on this thread! However I'm included in the Met Office London and South East, so here I am. The front looks like it should be reaching me fairly soon as there's a blob that's making its way down between Oxford and London at the moment. Will update if anything happens!

Happy birthday John and good to see you, Yamkin! Kids back to school today and I'm back to work so will have to snatch moments to check on the action here. Looking hopeful but after so many let downs, I'll believe it when I see it by my own lamp post -

Sadly not! I did mention Netweather to Phil Avery and he had heard of us though! It was very interesting hearing their backgrounds and how they got into it, and also what it's actually like having to do the forecasts. Always being squeezed into a minute or two and sometimes not knowing how long they will have until literally the last second. Very lovely people. -

Just been to a party this afternoon and met Carol Kirkwood and Phil Avery. How surreal! They were both very nice! -

Amazingly beautiful frost here today with some still remaining from yesterday. So depressed about the rain to come. I've loved the winter wonderland of the last few days. -

My met office phone app also says light snow from 9am until 3pm on Thursday - not too long to go now either! -

This is my first post here so please be kind! It has been said in the past that the data at the weekends is not as reliable as during the week. I'm really hoping this is not the case, but could this slight improvement for cold prospects be due to this? Whenever there is a wobble towards mild at the weekend in an otherwise cold scenario, there are lots of posts about things being different at the weekend... -

Not sure what happened here as it was before I woke up! We have some slushy wet stuff on the car windscreens and some white patches on the grass though so I guess we had a bit of snow I live in a valley though, so there's probably more on the tops of the Chilterns... Enjoy everyone who has a bit more!! -

Morning all Yes, certainly different today. I was getting all in the Christmas mood with the beautiful frosty days and was going to buy some presents today, but this rain is putting me off. Ah well, it has to be done. Looking forward to the cold coming back! -

This is the latest picture from Germany which arrived this morning. I think he's trying to torture me. Still, he's back tonight. Beautiful frost here this morning
