indeed. The Flash (orange) warning was valid until midday for Icy roads. The yellow (advisory) is for icy roads today. The Flash Warning (orange) currently in force is for heavy snow.
Early warning for Kent & Sussex!! There is a high risk of severe weather affecting Kent, East Sussex and eastern parts of West Sussex. Outbreaks of snow starting on Saturday afternoon will become heavy and persistent during the evening and last into Sunday morning. 7 to 12 cm of fresh level snow are expected widely with 10 to 20 cm locally. Drifting in the very strong winds will cause even greater accumulations in places. Disruption to transport networks is possible.
why the long face?
Temp is dangerously close to a non-ice day, currently -0.2C and still climbing. Windchill is -2.0C apparently, with dewpoint at -1.5C

I'd agree, there is no pesky Low trying to make it's mind up today, it's just a straight NEerly wind, with local variants, so I guess there is more chance they could be right for tonight
I have to return to UEA this weekend because my lectures recommence on Monday. However, I seriously cannot see me getting there until midweek next week given the current state of the situation in Kent...
That line in the channel is certainly back-building towards Dungeness-Hythe way, whilst the band I'm under is drifting slowly southwestwards but westwards at the same time, so I would expect it to stop soon.
I think it's a case of the snow is there but it's just not showing up because it has the equivalent intensity of drizzle, which also doesn't normally show up on there. Persistent drizzle - widespread 5cm apparently
