  1. indeed. The Flash (orange) warning was valid until midday for Icy roads. The yellow (advisory) is for icy roads today. The Flash Warning (orange) currently in force is for heavy snow.
  2. oh - I still will never forget this though: Just shows how much a forecast can change
  3. ...and by Michael Fish. It doesn't get any better Did it taste nice?
  4. Despite it currently snowing lightly, it is also very slowly thawing as well. Temp is -0.1C currently - not looking good!
  5. Early warning for Kent & Sussex!! There is a high risk of severe weather affecting Kent, East Sussex and eastern parts of West Sussex. Outbreaks of snow starting on Saturday afternoon will become heavy and persistent during the evening and last into Sunday morning. 7 to 12 cm of fresh level snow are expected widely with 10 to 20 cm locally. Drifting in the very strong winds will cause even greater accumulations in places. Disruption to transport networks is possible.
  6. why the long face? Temp is dangerously close to a non-ice day, currently -0.2C and still climbing. Windchill is -2.0C apparently, with dewpoint at -1.5C http://www.wealdofkentweather.co.uk/livewx/
  7. oh yes, Kent & Sussex now have a warning for 2-5cm widely, and 10cm locally.
  8. I'd agree, there is no pesky Low trying to make it's mind up today, it's just a straight NEerly wind, with local variants, so I guess there is more chance they could be right for tonight
  9. John Hammond said that yesterday about last night then look what happened! Nowt.
  10. still lightly snowing, but signs of easing off now
  11. I have to return to UEA this weekend because my lectures recommence on Monday. However, I seriously cannot see me getting there until midweek next week given the current state of the situation in Kent...
  12. yep , hold in there, my current shower is currently coming towards you!
  13. That line in the channel is certainly back-building towards Dungeness-Hythe way, whilst the band I'm under is drifting slowly southwestwards but westwards at the same time, so I would expect it to stop soon.
  14. same here, and still no let up - lovely 6 inches on the ground now.
  15. depending on the wind direction, SE/S Essex and NW Kent do well, incl. parts of London
  16. I think it's a case of the snow is there but it's just not showing up because it has the equivalent intensity of drizzle, which also doesn't normally show up on there. Persistent drizzle - widespread 5cm apparently
  17. Is that big blob over N Kent coming towards me!? seems to be drifting somewhat further westwards
  18. too far west by about 2 miles for today's streamer! how frustrating.
