  1. 3rd heavy shower of the day. bizarre as nothing on radar?!?! settling...
  2. light flurry now, been going for 10 minutes. blinking big flakes though. not settling EDIT - enormous 10 pence size flakes, settling on cars & grass. gritter just ben passed
  3. light flurries all morning, temp fluctuating from 0oC in the sticks to 2oC here in s london. further 1.7cm overnight- total of 5.7cm mean settled on flat surfaces.
  4. right then, this will be my official snow league report for 21st feb... persistent heavy showers through last 3.5 hours, plus earlier showers of snow pellets & snow around 1500-1800. we have a mean cover of 4cms i'm one happy bunny
  5. constant heavy showers here now. measured 1.8cm about 45 mins ago, imagine it's up to >2.5 now... what's great is that it has clung to the roads & pavements, which means it'll keep topping up through the night.
  6. quick snow update for the kent/surrey/london borders. in pub in fickleshloe, surrey at 190m asl. 1 cm lying from earlier, started to snow as left. headed towards b269 and away from croydon. at botley hill surrey very heavy snow fell and continued as i headed home towards west wickham, kent. whiteout conditions at times, visibility with headlights down to 20m. now back home snow still falling moderately though i can clearly see the moon! some pavements remain wet, but most roads covered. depth approx 1cm
  7. just had heavy wet snow in dulwich, s london again. lasted 12 mins, slush on cars. very wet out there now. no idea about temps, i'd guess at 1-2oC
  8. band of ppn has just hit dulwich, s london. heavy snow, settling on cars and shop tarpaulins. will be over in 0 mins though...
  9. large snow pellets falling in dulwich, south london. at glance skyward suggests this is just a quickie though
  10. quick reports from earlier this evening. travelling south on a1 from junc with m62, few patches of snow in services. hit 1st shower that was readily settling on carraigeway nr grantham at 2230ish. persistent light snow all way to peterborough where 2nd heavy fall began and accumulated. back home now, temp 2.0oC and very wet, me suspects due to sleet.
  11. it's a balmy 10oC here, sunny intervals and slight breeze.
  12. there are spits and spots all over s/se. there were a couple of sleety drops earlier here in dulwich, s london when i was driving around about 1030. literally though, just a couple, does not qualify for the league as a shower. if you strain very hard at the avbrief radar you can pick up these faint echoes.
  13. heavy sleet at about 2245 with big flakes of wet snow in there. settled as slush only on car windows.
  14. two 10 minute showers in wallington, surrey at about 1330 today. i was sitting in the pub recovering from sunday league when my friend said 'oh look, it's snowing.' i turned to tell him to shut up & was gearing up to be all self-righteous (considering myself the resident snow expert and all ), there it was, and all at about 6.0oC. it was not sleet, nor hail, but bonafide snow. i have never seen ppn fall as snow at such high a temp. nature, eh?
  15. most snow i've seen this year! started as rain, then sleet, then as the temp fell very quickly if turned to snow, which prob lasted all of 3 minutes, but was fairly heavy none-the-less. peaked whilst i was driving over blackfriars bridge at about 2120. sleet/snow has just finished here back home in west wickham which lasted 15 mins or so.
  16. moderate hail/graupel which covered everything for 10 mins before melting away here in dulwich, south london. followed by light sleet/rain before dying out completely. looked good for a while there!!
  17. anyone watching MOTD right now...wow look at that snow fall at the hawthornes!!! would've been about 1800
  18. ditto that in west wickham. however the 2215 radar shows ppn very, very close by... http://www.avbrief.com/newcharts//20050122...15_lradar_0.gif
  19. feeling very mild still here in kemsley nr sittingbourne, kent thames estuary. unfortunately no exact temp as no thermometer, but i'd hazard a guess at around 7-9oC. clear and breezy from the west.
  20. i can't quite believe how cold it has been in south london all day. about 30 mins ago i drove from work in dulwich to get some lunch, my car thermometer was reading 1.5oC usually reliable too (to nearest 0.5oC) feeling bitterly chilly, but dead still. low cloud has shrouded us and i've been waiting for the sun to break through all day, but it just hasn't happened. feeling very wintry, nice little bonus  attend of the evil mild over the next 2 days
  21. around 2.0 here- risen over last few hours after dipping to below 0 early on. the frost on the cars is actually melting!
  22. just come back from a night out in west london. i was expecting some cold temps, alas i'm recording 4.3 and clear skies here. big dissapointment  travel on 5live doesn't report any sig snowfall anywhere either other than mentioning the m5 is 'a bit icy.'
  23. can i report sleet/wet snow that didn't settle for my location (west wickham) on 20th nov and have it added to the league, or is it too late? to verify, merely watch some highlights of the palace v newcastle match from that saturday! i didn't hink it was worthy at the time but a quick check of the league shows these included elsewhere. in the interest of scientific accuracy...
