  1. Not for me, looks like scud. Also the texture of the parent cloud it's attached too looks more like outflow rather than inflow. I'm sure some of the experts on here will be able to englighten you more:)
  2. Absolutely nothing here. Jokes! Last night was the most incredible lightning display I've possibly ever seen, but definitely in the last ten years. By the time it arrived I was rather drunk and all my camera settings were basically wrong so I managed to get barely any pictures but my oh my that will live on in the memory. The dilemma for me was 'shall I pick a vantage point looking east or South west' and because we didn't have a car to hand and lots of heavy stuff I had to pick one and stick with it. Luckily I picked the one looking South west. Saw the first flashes and thought my mind was playing tricks on me. An hour later it was constant strobe lightning and although I was stood out in the open ontop of a hill I couldn't care less because it was incredible. Will traul the thread later for pics and stories after I've had a bit more sleep and the hangover wears off. Pats on the back all round everyone
  3. Ummmm cap appears to have broken to my north east near basingstoke. Towers havee gone up already
  4. Right, well, work basically finished. GoPro and DSLR charged at home with powerbank for an all evening timelapse. Good luck everyone and stay safe!
  5. too perfect at the moment. Friday night, girlfriend at work, best friend and fellow storm enthusiast to hand, cameras charged, crate of beer, bottle of Morgan spiced, camping chairs and newspapers - just got to pick my vantage point carefully. Do i face North East or South/south west?
  6. Sweeeeet looks like we are set to miss out again. For once I really do hope it does shift further east to affect what must be one of the least stormy portions of the UK
  7. I'm still counting myself in the NSC because although my back garden literally got struck by lightning last night, I was asleep and it doesnt count. I'm hoping for some action on Friday night, however my gut feeling and looking at the GFS charts suggest to me an Eastward shift/direction which scream Kent-Clipper. any experts care to add their opinion?
  8. Pretty sure the conductor near the back of my garden was hit by a positive CG about half hour ago. Sounded like a bomb went off. I was fast asleep and then I was wide awake stood up in the middle of my room, that was a little crazy
  9. praying for Friday night to deliver here. Imports from France pretty please. Don't think we've got much chance otherwise:(
  10. Surely that's no longer the case as Lincolnshire gets storms whenever and wherever they are forecast?
  11. feel the charts will downgrade a touch to more realistic levels over the next few days, having said that, whatever happens now, it will be lovely and warm/hot and no sign of North Westerlies for a while:)
  12. also the heat is rather more intense than the plume-fail from the other week. Fingers crossed eh?
  13. went to only my second bbq of the year yesterday. Was quite humid and warm in the late afternoon but by late evening it was blowing a gale (standard) and too cold to be outside. Lovely March weather.
  14. sod all here. Does feel more "ripe" for a storm out there though than it has all year. coming from the guy who wanted to sue the BBC after the plume fail last week? alrighty then. Pay no attention Gordon
  15. I'm in. Heard one clap of thunder since a rather impressive storm back in October I think it was and that clap of thunder was at my work In Basingstoke rather than home in Whitchurch. Truly has been the most boring year for weather I can remember. Haven't even seen any decent convection apart from one day, we had some squally April showers (last month) Gone are the days of rock-solid cauliflower convection:( Last plume that delivered from memory was July 2007 and that wasn't even that great. Little did I know back then that I wouldn't see another one for the next 8 years at least.
  16. last night was the first night this summer I've been able to sleep with my window open and it was wonderful. Been going to bed freezing cold with a hot water bottle some nights this "summer" The year of absolutely benign weather continues...
  17. So, thats Kent, London and East Anglia/Peterborough in the best-placed spots, just need Lincolnshire to get something and my prediction from this morning will be bang-on.
  18. While I completely respect the met-office and the fickleness of the weather, not to mention the literally hundreds of factors and parameters that come into play to make an accurate forecast, what I do not understand is: Every man and his dog knew that the MCS from northern France last night would leave behind a tonne of clag and mess that would inhibit surface heating. If a complete amateur like me knows this then how on earth do senior-meteorologists not factor this in when it happens literally EVERY time?tH This is up there for me with the time the Meto said we "might" see the odd flurry of snow in the breeze throughout the afternoon when the reality was we got 8 hours solid of heavy snow and I got snowed into Festival Place in Basingstoke. Wide of the mark.
  19. Good day fellow Andover resident! (im not actually from Andover but have worked there most of my working life:) )
  20. Youre probably right, although i do try to drink a lot of water, especially when the weather is warm and these headaches seem a little more intense than a regular dehydration headache. who knows:p this cloud really needs to do one, pleaseeee
  21. not sure if related really but I have a banging headache. Last time i had a headache like this was on my last day on holiday in France last summer and that evening we had an EPIC storm. Fingers crossed
  22. If I were a betting man I would wager london seeing a brief period of sparks, the Midlands and Peterborough getting something and obviously Lincolnshire later on. Obviously, I am very happy for those people in those areas and I'm just a little jealous:p What I predict happening imby is cloud finally clearing around 7-8pm to reveal a huge mound of cbs North of Oxford and absolutely nothing here. The times have changed and for some reason we just don't get storms here in these kinds of set ups. We do well out of showery South westerlies. I will of course be happy to apologise for my ranting and eat humble pie should it all go bang here later on which I hope it does, otherwise it may just be about time to find a new hobby:p
