  1. I’m just glad we’re getting some practice in now for the period between September-April.
  2. Wait until next week. Flooding on the cards. Some of the posters in here must be licking their lips.
  3. Outside and it looks/feels like it could be any day between September - April.
  4. Be time to stick the heating back on this weekend. Thank god I’m not furloughed and struggling on 80 percent of my wage.
  5. It is always this time of year - it’s very strange. You don’t see it in the winter moans/ramps thread. I wonder why. I have previously thought to myself about going into the winter moans thread and baiting people but then I remember I’m not petty and weird - I just let the coldies enjoy their winter (I say enjoy, the last few have been pretty poor).
  6. Lot of rain to come. Let’s hope nobody gets flooded out of their homes like they were earlier in the year.
  7. Goodness me this must be the least stormy period in my 35 years of life. 2 elevated storms since April 2018 and 2 claps of thunder/flashes from surface based showers in the space of 25 months. Surface based convection genuinely doesn’t happen anymore - and now to end this hot spell, it looks like I get dynamic frontal rainfall. What has happened?
  8. Although the heat has been relatively dry, the sun has felt exceptionally strong owing probably to no cloud and no contrails. Hopefully the unsettled blip is brief and we return to such wonderful conditions quickly - maybe with a little more of a southerly influence so we can pull up some moisture and get some storms cooking. We can refill the parched reservoirs and watch people’s homes flood from September-March when it will likely rain solidly.
  9. When does noctilucent season end? I’m pretty sure I see them most summers at some point.
  10. The thing that winds me up and has seemingly become the norm these days, is not the change to cooler conditions (that does suck but I digress) but the fact the warmth will just dissolve away into nothing. In the old days it would go out with a bang but that doesn’t happen here anymore. Storms really are incredibly rare.
  11. The vegetation was crazy here. I’m 35 and I’ve never seen anything like 2018 - it was like the south of France or Spain how brown everything was.
  12. Tell you what - I’ll accept a 2018 summer BUT with torrential evening thunderstorms every other day. deal?
  13. Of course it might - but I can assure you that this being the UK, we will soon see endless rainfall to balance it out. Source: I live here and it happens every single time.
  14. Everything is lush and green here. No sign of a looming haboob on the horizon.
  15. Have a day off mate. It’ll make you feel better.
  16. Might be the best spring in living memory here. Shame about the lockdown/pandemic etc - but that will make it stick in the mind even more in the years to come I would imagine. I can’t even fathom how depressing this would all have been if the weather had been awful. Agree with Froze above ^^ regarding convection though - it was the one thing I disliked about summer 2018 - there was just no convection whatsoever. No surface based storms, no plumes, nothing. I could do with a good storm right about now.
  17. Drought rampers out in force I see knowing full well we live in the UK and it will rain for months on end at some point.
  18. My fault guys - last night after viewing the broad model consensus that we were in for a lovely spell of weather, I sent a message to my friends saying ‘wahey, summer’s coming!’
  19. A high of 9 degrees apparently on Tuesday. Can’t wait.
  20. Storms here have undergone a startling decrease in frequency since around 2007. Having said that, last year my ONE storm of the year was one of the most intense I’ve ever seen (the one in July).
  21. Not like we just had 8 months of continuous rain. Its been really beautiful here this April - absolutely no complaints from me.
  22. Kent clipper looking good. Maybe a few sparse flashes and rumbles this far west.
