    Manchester to Blackpool and out into the Irish Sea looks a great place to be today. Im going to throw a wildcard in and say somewhere from Barnstaple to Ilfracombe might see something pretty decent too.

    Holy Moly a convective cloud in Hampshire heading this way.

    Heavy shower recently passed over Andover. That’s as exciting as it’s been since July.

    Some vertical development now and even a smidge of pileus.

    No real height to anything at the moment. All looks a bit flat

    I’m going to pop over to kingsclere downs later this afternoon with the dog. Good views to the north and Oxfordshire.

    A few spring to mind. End of May 99 - Storms moved up from the SW and hit us head-on one afternoon. Day darkness, green swirling sky, rotating ground dragging scud and then the heavens opened with incredible hail, lightning and thunder. June 2014 and the Bournemouth supercell. 23rd July 2019 - the most recent entry. The lightning was off the hook. War of the Worlds vibes from that one.

    Alas, this is true, but nobody posts in the winter moans thread ‘ahhh mild and 12 degrees with no winter in sight, I love this weather long may it continue’ or some variation every single day because it adds literally nothing to the conversation and is clearly to wind people up.

    I didn’t think I would see a June as w**k as last year ever again, but here we are.

    Lol I see any ‘warmer’ temps are being constantly pushed back now. Weeks on weeks of punishment weather to come. What a vile little climate we have.

    Jeeez yeah that’s bad - I must say last July we had that incredible storm, but since then I’ve seen a couple IC flashes in the dark in December and that is literally it.

    Im terrible at reading charts - can somebody tell me if the coming weekend’s precip values will be from convection or from dynamic frontal rainfall?
