Can see a good storm about 30 miles out to sea from here in Westcliff now the sun is going down, anvil is lighting up pink every few minutes. Should be better when the sun is down in 30 minutes or so,
Apologies, misread your original post. Your points are certainly valid and I would agree re large hail.
Torro going for possible 10-15mm in diameter though. I think the sustained nature of the updrafts here being of note.

Edit: To be fair to you as well ESTOFEX specifically say small hail.
That cell may be a low topped supercell. The shear environment it is in combined with the radar echo would suggest it might be. If anyone can see the top look for the slight overshoot.
Nothing here in Southend yet, going to stay up for a while yet though to see how this plays out, certainly all very north-easterly as it comes off the continent in terms of electrification.
Sferics in the north sea now off Holland, first proper effort out to sea.
Edit: met office forecasting this to come through quite quickly , clearing the south east by 1am.
Edit 2: sfterics on the atd, lightning in oxfordshire.

Edit: the whole site is great and worth exploring, you don't need to know to much french to find your way around.
Muggy feel walking home from work in Southend...I am hoping for something tonight after sleeping through the whole lot on Monday night...still can't believe that!
