  1. LOL - I have to admit I was wrong - just found this back in the 2013 thread ME: "woohoo plenty of lying snow and we've only just hit the heavier stuff - this is awesome!!"
  2. supposed to be travelling down to St Ives next Sat for a week's holiday (all paid for). Never thought I'd be saying this but kind of hoping the pub run doesn't come off!!
  3. Strange continuity on ECM between 168 and 192 in terms of flow and colld upper 850's progression. Although, if it get's to this stage I don't think anybody will worry about it.
  4. Holy heck it's snowing!! On/off snow/sleet. According to the Filton weather station http://www.martynhicks.uk/weather/data.php it's 2.4C dp 0.8C - I'm at 58m asl.
  5. Wishing you a speedy recovery festivalking so you can get out soon and play in the copious drifts of dry powder snow we are about to receive.
  6. NK whatever happened to Mr Angwin - didn't he go off to forecast with Al Jazeera or something?
  7. Ours does that - pretty unnerving when you're trying to sleep under it!
  8. yeah 18z model run puts the colder 850 layer air back but i think thickness of the air mass will pull out surprises from weds onwards.
  9. After the boxing day night surprise i wouldn't write this spell off. A hell of a lot more potential energy coiled up in this long-lasting low from a cold source. fun and games ahead. thursday storm troublesome, though. rules on snow are partially pared down when 850-1000 hectopascal layers are thinned out.. be prepared.
  10. it'll be a long drawn out affair, there'll be plenty of NW cold and in the end I think SM and TEITS will have called it right - easterly, but from a retrogressing scandi to greeny via arctic. Notwithstanding the fallout from this Noreaster bomb in the states. Aftermath of this calls chaos theory, wouldn't be surprised to see the arrival of Shannon Entropy into the next week's terminology.
  11. with every run that holds that line, reinforcements of colder air sneak in from the east. Of course the near term Ely won't deliver much at all, but the set-up is good.
  12. Further out at 192 cold uppers advancing more rapidly through Poland than 18z would have us believe:
