  1. All terribly exciting but I'm sitting here a bit torn. Work at Grangemouth and my role is considered to be crucial for safe running of the plant. On nightshift tonight starting at 18.30 finishing at 06.30. Hmm what to do, work are considering sending out 4 by 4's to get us in but no good if the roads are jammed and I'd rather drive myself tbh, winter tyres etc.
  2. Even got drifts inside the garage! But picture won't load so here's a snow angel instead. That didn't load either, sledging did.
  3. This one has to be worth saving - 2 troughs embedded in flow, in a pool of sub 510 dam air - Snawtastic.
  4. Me next, blow it on down without sucking too much out of it......please.
  5. McFlurry to follow? And a Happy Meal for HC, he lost his other toys earlier.
  6. Just seen on FB that all Stirling schools closed tomorrow. Good sign/bad sign?
  7. Just checked the GEFS for Stirlingshire, T850 bottoms out tomorrow at -15ish then on a steady rise to -5 until T384. Remarkable.
  8. So is that 40 over my house? SS only has 32/35! Looking good for Perth too.
  9. Is it just me or have all the radars failed? Might have to resort to looking out the window - it's snowing. Netweather radar working again, phew.
  10. Might even be worth a closer look at your graupel, mine was quite pretty earlier.
  11. Perth needs a Tay streamer which I think requires a ENE wind direction. Might kick off during this spell at some point but not looking awfully like atm.
  12. Eek a bit torn here, best snow/cold for 7 years looking fairly certain! And I'm booked to fly out of Edinburgh at 6.30am Saturday, to more snowmaggedon in the French alps. Would love to see and experience more of it here, and not to have to travel in the middle of it all but alps should be fun too. Caught between a rock and hard place or is that a snowball and snowdrift?
  13. Where you off to SS? I'm heading for Serre Che on 3rd. As long as I can get to Edinburgh Airport!!
  14. Snow's on here too, assume it's going to turn to rain, but nice to see. Amazing day at Nevis Range yesterday, proper powder and sunshine. Mr Frost, lots of wise words about the dangers but my tip would be to go try things within your comfort zone and always be in control. So on a wild day try a wee hill with easy escape and see how the wind chill etc feel. Always carry more gear than you think you'll need and ALWAYS be prepared to turn back if you're not confident. My classic for wild weather (westerlies) is to try Ben Ledi where you climb the lower slopes in relative shelter and when you hit the ridge that's when you know if it is too wild to continue or not. Not recommending that (I have been wandering hills since 1980!) but something similar in your area might be appropriate.
  15. Oops mixed up my c and ch, cheggers for the win, that'll teach me to skim read while I should really be doing the school run.
  16. Nice covering again here this morning, which is a relief as I lost my last batch on Saturday. Looks like cmd won the competition.
  17. Is this the time to confess I did a bit of a Blue Peter? ? In the competition stakes that is.
  18. Has been quite a spell, still 23cm lying here although starting to get moist on top. Anyone fancy a who can keep snow for the longest competition? Only downside for me is that I had to enjoy most of the big falls on radar from my concrete box at work. Did enjoy some snowy motorway trips getting there and back though. And see pictures like this of my boy out playing while I work.
  19. Well trained daughter. 8cm is the report, more on grass but snowman took priority over measurements.
