  2. Note we share a birthday tomorrow Stewfox all the best I think your special delivery snow ouweighs my rain
  3. It doesnt play for me maybe my PC setup not condusive
  4. I would just like to say that a few years ago a similar situation arose,a Channel Low was forecast dire warnings were given out ie dont travel, take a hot drink and a shovel if you do type of thing and the south of england awoke to dry pavements the low slid off at the last minute into France, all that i am asking is could it possibly happen again or is the setup now close enough to treat as near gospel,You see ,only the other daythere was a siuation where this part of the world was expecting rain as per the forecast and for a short while thats what we got then due to unforecast frontal movement we had snow for many hours. Just out of interest, does anyone remember the non event date regarding my opening remarks?
  5. Lovely pictures,im 3 miles from East Dorset,10 miles South Of Wiltshire so have got some of both counties weather plus my own in Hampshire seventh day of proper lying snow here quite remarkable for this area.
  6. I am 10 miles south of wiltshire lovely snow cover all day and its just started to ........................................................................... RAIN mind you yesterday it was meant to rain and it......................snowed so for tonight heads it will snow tails it will rain
  7. well stormforce your guess is as good as mine lunchtime weather showed about 6 hours of snow from the early hours just looked at bbc online showing snownearly everywhere except where you and i live so spin a coin time i think
  8. YES will have to change my location title now mind you 18 years is long enough of the old one
  9. getting rather silly snowing quite hard here again on the hampshire wiltshire border was this in tonights script
  10. yes see what you are saying mituozo but it was weird today sun was out yet slow thaw yesterday continuous snow with fast thaw so the air was i think colder today we also had 3 inches of snow overnight im fully expecting to find the snow gone by tomorrow when the mild air comes through but this winter has slung in many against the norm surprises so we shall see only downside football training cancelled lol
  11. even further confusion 2 reports from a dorset coast b hampshire coast reporting snow again as just pointed out the warmer air to follow but most forecasts about 6pm largely said rain thats all
  12. This is a bit confusing im led to believe that the south of england is due to get rain tonight which it may well do,but its snowing at the moment and settling, maybe the mild air is nowhere near at present.i am just south of wiltshire and east of dorset and live in hampshire.Right just seen post saying precipitation generally is miles away.
  13. Borderline here 10 miles south of wiltshire 4 miles east of dorset live in hampshire regular snow showers tonight leaving a covering
  14. Bit of a fraud here,10 miles south of wiltshire 4 miles east of dorset and i live in hampshire and it seems a small strip of the 3 counties getting snow showers tonight a fresh covering hope it doesnt melt
  15. business as usual here in the Hampshire no snow triangle a total of 37 flakes so far but you just never know do you?
  16. But Tornado we have not yet had sleet can you top that B)
  17. As a gardener who is out every day to an extent the weather has a major bearing on my life and mood. A day planned for lawnmowing ruined by unforecast rain makes my mood pretty bad.Being fair haired and fair skinned temps over 25c give me a few problems too. However, because i love snow so much but live in an area that rarely gets it seeing setups that nearly give snow but never do whilst reading of snow events coutrywide make me a little jealous  Mind you having been through the 1963 experience at 13 I sometimes wonder, much as i love snow what my mood may be after say 10 days of snow and near zero temps. Be nice to find out
  18. Thanks to the posters who replied to my previous post.Yes,as expected the usual suspects emerged. However,i was surprised by 3 Blackpool being quite far North but coastal Swansea and most of all Karen from Nottingham, that was a surprise entry to me. So,its largely a Southwestern quadrant problem although not exclusively. The Eye in the Sky sent me an informative note regarding the demise of our snow friend the Channel Low,last year Steve Murr sent a brilliant but gloomy piece regarding confirmation of the no snow triangle in which i and many live. As a generalisation.using my Inspector Clueseau powers of deduction i have noticed that Southerly winds are normally mild SW ditto W as recently as 2 days ago gave rain although it was cold so North although cold run out of steam so Now what? Although NE is best probably for me for wider event is an Easterly probably our best hope,it would be nice to get your opinions. For the record,John holmes kindly gave me his opinion but i dont want you swayed by an ex professional As before many thanks if you respond
  19. This is a geographic interest question and nothing else.Since October many parts of Britain have seen lying snow including London. There will be a few areas that have seen not a flake of snow at all.My main guess would probably be Central Southern England Westwards, but even then im sure snow has been reported from Hereford and Wales at some stage.Even in my own county ofHampshire although we saw now snow as yet the East of the county had some. This is not a moan and gripe topic just one of interest to me .Many thanks in advance for your information.
  20. here in hampshire its business as usual lots of dead leaves on ground but thats because we have had most unusual amount of very strong winds that in turn brings down the leaves and in these very dry conditions the leaves die and go brown horse chestnut has suffered especially.some areas that i work as a gardener it looks quite autumnal but falsely so for the above reason.
  21. Just an interest countrywide as to anything memorable in the last winter, for example here in Hampshire it was a poor winter for snow but we have had 57 frosts Ialso saw the biggest snowflakes of my entire life this winter finished off with the recent Sunday morning winter wonderland just interested as to how others have fared.
  22. as a fellow hampshire gardener[my job]all veg garden tips usually at extortionate fees are yours at rock bottom prices ps it is blooming hard work you tell em lol
  23. In what has been another awful winter for snow here in Hampshire a magical momentat about 11 30 rain with flecks of sleet and small snowflakes started to fall all of a sudden you truly could hardly see the sky there was a mass of snowflakes bigger than 3 50p pieces falling such was the intensity the ground started to whiten as did roofs and cars had all gone by the time i returned to the village but as said a truly special time last event like that here thundersnow 28 01 04
  24. 46 frosts one sleet showermixture of cool/cold dry mild wet mush that completes the voting from the Hampshire no snow triangle.
