  1. No weekly report after his two week break, dark rumours that hes been bundled into a van and taken to a rival weather site, hopefully no truth.
  2. Apologies for this but after 17 hours in jan CET forum not a vistor let alone a reply, over on Two they show CET of 0.45 whereas on netweather they show about 1.5 both low but why the difference. Many Thanks. Edit now 0.65 on TWO but maybe netweather has increased too.
  3. Just a quick question over on TWO they show Jan CETas0.45 whereas on here general opinion is that its about 1.5 both low but why such a difference?
  4. According to the weather forecast at 1 25 on bbc they showed Easterly winds, quite strong at that too, with temperatures quote struggling to get much above freezing unquote by midweek. The reason this is in the the model thread is what model do they use, because reading many posts on here, little similar comment has been made, again an education thing for me,would welcome any advice.
  5. Just a quick question reference the models. On our own website yesterday Mr.Fish said on his weekly update that a return to cold from the east from Wednesday was expected. In fairness,he cannot have the luxury of changing what he said,as the models then chop and change, but of interest to me,as its our forum and site, what model would he have used to make his forecast. Not being contentious here, just trying to get a picture of how it works.
  6. A lovely post Tamara I guess the sort that im looking for ie now with some hindsight comment, based on going through the experience. Just in case people think im a killjoy...........not true, love the cold and snow, but causing problems with my outdoor job and far worse than that, ruining my river fishing and football training lol
  7. Dont forget we share the same birthday Stewfox the 9th of Feb a date over the years conducive to cold and snow, keep the faith lol
  8. My previous topic regarding how much more of the bitter weather could folk take generated plenty of views and replies. In the replies the majority basically said weeks/months. Looking at the forums at large, here and there are comments more to do with glad we having a break from it type of thing. So, now that work, transport, injury ect are factored in if as Mr Fish has just suggested in his video, much colder weather returns perhaps [although he did not say so]with more heavy snowfall,is everyone as up for the fight as before? This is non wind up topic, just interested to see what the core view now is having been through a substantial cold spell largely country wide.
  9. Quick post on here as Central Southern forum sunk due to lack of interest i see Jethro commenting about snow, well its the same here really i have lived in this area one month shy of 20 years and last feb and now have been amazing bad for my gardening work but there you go snowing lightly again in mid Hampshire yet 7 miles south of here nothing i do feel for the folk in Dorset yet im only 3 miles from east Dorset,so they really have had no luck.
  10. Probably mr Horse, but funnily enough this area rarely gets snow yet this year 7 days lying snow 6 with temps not above zero.
  11. Fear not Stormforce snowing and settling here in mid Hants slowly on its way
  12. Just climed over fence from Lord Lucan style South central forum,im a landscaper too and its starting to look a bit bleak, seems via the other threads that snow is creeping very slowly this way ie Kent then Sussex now Surrey so who knows, yet another ice day here, not that windy yet
  13. Yes Stephen this thread of ours puts in about as many appearances as Lord Lucan minus 7 here earlier with good snow cover still in South Hampshire.
  14. Coming from Hampshire I almost qualify for this area, this morning on Radio 4 at 7 57 they said two things of passing interest one, that the showers had started earlier than expected, and two that they expected a more South Westerly track mentioning showers into Central Southern England, anyone have an opinion on this based on current conditions?
  15. Just in from walking my mates 2 sheepdogs in the snow what a hoot, some good replies to the topic but i reckon more thn 2 weeks of things as it is now might just test a few. However in the mean time lets enjoy these rather unusual[snowless Hampshire normally]while they last.
  16. A light hearted subject with a slightly serious point to make. So,mums got the hump, tescos cant home deliver.Dad,a self employed builder,is flapping, that extension he had to do,to help pay for Xmas,he cant do it. Phone rings, grans in hospital, fallen over in the snow, how we going to get to see her,the roads are gridlocked. Blimey, another power cut,now what are we to do.Oh no,tree is down across entrance to our luxury developement nobody can get in or out,ok phone a tree surgeon to deal with it,he cant come his Council are out of grit for the roads. God this is awful, will relax in a hot bath, what reduced gas supply off for 3 hours, this is the pits. As I say light hearted, but were it to happen like that, as it may,how long before you cracked For the record,i am self employed, live in the middle of nowhere, and have no friends ,and am on the verge of being elderly lol.
  17. 7 flakes so far none of which have settled sub zero watching with interest hampshire reports what a diverse county we have anyway for those with plenty of snow enjoy it.
  18. Dan m in answer to your question, statistically central southern england has the lowest number of lying snow days per annum so people dont get too excited, however i guess that if after all the hype we dont get snow the forecasting agencies would rightly get some justified abuse.
  19. yes just the once 28 01 04 heavy rain thunder and lightning followed by strong wind and whiteout conditions truly quite an epic evening.
  20. Well im in central southern england and have worked all afternoon in horrendous conditions very heavy rain,sleet,5 claps of thunder and dark by 3 45 so if what i worked through turns to snow further north well, interesting it will be. Things will change down here , but what I can say is that heavy hail then came on and has not melted so at present it cannot be that mild, also ive lived here for 20 years and have never seen so much ice on the roads and pavements many either went home slowly or parked up and walked very dangerous today. Will watch with interest how things go on further north tonight.
  21. I use this site every day, enjoy it and especially in winter watch with interest the varied weather around the country unfold and all the highs and lows that go with it. I wonder how many pages would be saved in a winter if many of the following phrases were not used. That blizzard in F1 looks brilliant but it will never happen, car crash of emotions, pass the prozac, rollercoaster ride, close but no cigar, the form horse, will it snow in Boggington on sea,ect ect actually not as big a go as it may seem, nothing can be done anyway, but it kind of gets in the way thats all, cant remember GP, Mr Holmes,Mr Fish, using said terms. Anyway not written to cause offence but to perhaps provoke thought before posting thats all.
  22. For me only one real event 28 1 04 the Polar Low, rain, lightning, thunder, wind increase, whiteout quite incredible.
  23. Here in Central Southern England its the dryness that is the problem, how hardly any of the people seem to understand the need to water when im not there beggars belief, yet still bleating that the borders look a little drab To me personally,a busy time approaches but planting stuff without rain ie wallflowers ect with no customer back up is not an option ditto splitting transplanting too of perennials. I have no statistical records, but would think that the period march to now excluding july is probably one of the driest of my 19 gardening years. One observation i did make though is that the massive snow melt that we had in feb gave all hedging a kick start that continued all year i have never had so much hedge work to do before. So much as i will probably moan as rain droplets drip off my nose soon, during the much needed rainstorms here its becoming a real problem as it is i gather in eastern counties.
  24. Lovely day here in mid Hampshire sunny and warm, even lovelier the fact i have a rare Saturday off work.
