  2. eagerly awaiting the wind veering and the temps to plunge around midnight tonite, meantime I`ll try to not get suckered with ppn types on the radars,,,fatal error by allowing scant regards of the dew and layer temps  Plenty more ammo left afterall eh folks?

  6. Sounds just what we want! Immediate to very short term finer detail is something i always struggle to find accurate info on so coupled with mentioned radar input should be ideal in these rare times? If the logistics dont prove to be too much of an effort or require too much time involved then i`m sure all of us would be delighted Mr Holmes
  7. ditto that here too John, Keeping an eye on the small circulation off the NE corner coast but the trough will likely petre out before reaching SY?

  9. Perhaps we can rename the thread to Cold extended-spell discussion any day soon? Its clear lots of posters are standing on a beer crate seeking either attention or aspirations to increase their posts quota? or both??? The fundamental NAO picture ,regardless of its -VE negativity rendering the UK on the possibilities of a zonal influence, is a solid base for chances of interesting seasonal weather and coupled with all the other teleconnections leaves us with a pattern we have seldom observed or been even close to in quite a while. These are some of the finest times I have ever known on NW and perhaps the new year could start with certain members reading more on here and elsewhere and then posting with constructive informative and interesting material instead of many a post simply looking for brownie points, bickering or elements of "trolling"? happy new year NW folk
  10. Brief but solid ens. agreement (3rd Jan) for rises in aforementioned areas Oslo and but fax charts showing none of it??? any more ideas/thoughts chaps & chapesses? (silent respect as always for the "tech depth" post gp ;])

  12. The tripole`s intact & the NAO & AO twins couldn`t forecast any lower? the only thing thats "inevitable" is that the factors for prolonged cooling are all on board. As one of the old boys said recently - look at the bigger picture across the states & western atlantic grid, namely the 500mb NHEM Heights hereand you`ll find alls well?
  13. perfect end to xmas day mr murr woulda been an award winning post of sheer magnificence if portrayed via one of your old videos ;} The more Greenland waa the better? or am I being obtuse under "single malt" influence? great model days regardless mtf as always chums
  14. Special xmas thanks to the greenland high that`s made this quite an incredible spell! I have NEVER known frost to form after/during a warming across the snowfield and fog? Still, hovering around 0°C with partial cloud, Snow on the ground for Jesus on his birthday - what more could one want? happy crimbo to all NW folk old n new

  16. Sheffield City council are currently in a G.O.B.R.A. emergency meeting to determine why the shield failed, chaos reigns due to the severity of 2 inch of snow crippling the area, a spokesmen quoted the unfavorable latitude has lead to exposure of snow but they were doing everything in their power by spreading millions of tonnes of grit to ensure commuters can adequately travel regardless of the salt pollution washing into nearby rivers affecting wildlife. The statement is still enforced in that journeys should only be carried out where delivery of life saving human organs are in transit and/or life is seriously endangered where said commuter is currently located. The council repeats its apologies on behalf of the met office for the repeat of the February event where snow shamefully fell in the area contributing to widespread famine, pestilence & the council chief executives spoilt "non-patriotic themed" outdoor party at the council tax payers expense. ,,,Jeez do I love this rare old thing from the "glory 70`s & 80`s days" back out with the ICI bags kids, the NFL can wait for once

Any news on the current system just off the Delaware/New Jersey state coast that dumped heavy amounts in Virginia/N Carolina? 1-2" per hour currently falling in Maryland & Philadelphia area as the Low tracks north intensifying, What I`d give to be in the NY/LI area during one of these "noreasters" Interesting in that a bigger Winter Storm is gonna begin in NW Washington area early nex week???
  21. Difficult to see for me Pit but more cloud (bearing slight ppn?) off to our W/NW, Lot warmer today (2.6C) comparing to yesterday (max 1.2C), regardless of all, its been a long time since snow laid on the ground for over 24hrs before crimbo so game on no matter what amounts/type fall tonite
  22. During busy periods when some user profile data is stripped, (location to be more precise) It would be a great help if everyone finished of their "dittys" with their location? -1° clear/slight cloud cover & breezy Sheffield, SYorks.
