  1. all this and i`m just getting over another monumental superbowl roger great days indeed!
  2. Breezy from E, full cloud cover and light `blowey`snow 0.7C, 1004mb falling slowly, 37% rel hum.
  3. 56 year anniversary bump of the great 1st Feb 1953 north sea surge - one wonders why warnings were not taken seriously from the Dutch? "20ft waves crashing through lincolnshire sea defences" I wish their was more footage around as my `pops` stories are so interesting as he delivered all over lincolnshire but Norfolk bore the brunt as we all know. On this day etc
  4. Second that, just been outside to reposition thermom and seen sparingest amounts of snow grains falling on car bonnet, proves the lowers are set so the clock is ticking
  5. SE breeze picking up currently 2.1C on front of my ranch facing East and 1.6C on back facing west which is different to the usual? 1008MB steady 42% rel humidity, seems more cloud associated with the easterly drift than projected?
  6. Thin patchy light cloud drifting over in SSE breeze, ground frost well formed here too, currently 0.3C on my front 0.7C on sheltered back 1006mb steady, 57% rel humidity. must say its felt cold all day and never rose above 3C since this morning and I can taste that continental air already! Confidence is still high for you know what
  7. wet n windy, 44.4F, 987MB and still falling steadily, interesting few days n nights ahead, (enjoying my Laphroaig early tonite :o )
  8. You must admit though chris that the US pacific atoll nuclear tests in the 50`s & 60`s etc. were jolly good telly?
  9. Hows it looking at Heinz field for the Baltimore @ Pittsburgh AFC championship game sunday? If its cold i`m sure the defences of these two behemoths will raise the heat. Looking forward to this game immensely but we gotta take our hats off to Arizona for beating Carolina to get a ticket to the NFC Championship with Philly,,,? - - - Just realised most of this thread belongs over in the NFL08-09 sports column? but if you could shed some light on conditions expected folks? toodleoo from a zonal blighty http://nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif
  10. Further to AF`s reply between these posts Pompey and without wishing to stray too far from Carinth`s fine thread here?, may i suggest tracing some of PP's posts as he (IMHO) pointed me in the right direction with all the eastern seaboard influences and the concurrent effect it has on the UK in regards to the "cyclogenesis" businesses hand in hand partnership with the anomily you mention ;o)
  11. Nice one Chio Mezz wonders where the NW mob find themselves sometimes
  12. Only just caught this but may I say what a pleasure it is to view, takes all the complexities written in the model thread out (along with the obvious 1+1=2 bile posts) and allows a great understanding for a given probable big "event" in laymans terms for us non techies. Looking forward to the NWTV bizniss and many thanks to Paul and John  , (A little coaching from Stevie M`s old vids wouldnt go amiss, )
  13. Doubt if this will be the usual `countryfile-extended-thingy-forecast` []BBC yorks
  14. Not surpassed 3.3`C today, light easterly breeze, total cloud cover, 1029mb falling slightly, 44% rel humidity. The beginning of the end of the even larger teapot ???
  15. I got burned for a long un with Norwich at 9/1 a couple of yrs ago so keeping my feet on the ground this year, I know the big guns are quick with their price changes but they arnt as quick with the impending ensembles so good luck fellas
  16. Bumping this topic up as all the focus regarding white xmas betting is being lobbed on the model discussion thread? mezz attempts to coerce the yay sayers into the rite place?
  17. Love the snow on the shoreline pic debs Interesting in New Orleans having snow for only 2nd time in 19 years last week! All my eyes on the High following the Newfoundland & Labrador Low progged on Tue 23rd WX map and if it links up to Greenland after its exit of your Eastern seaboard? Keep the info comin folks, specially Seattle obs as i`m hoping for Brett Favre to settle back into his old wisconsin type weather for the Jets v Seattle matchup on Sunday!
  18. mmm, space time you say, gets simpleton me every time? so when on my infrequent jollys I prefer to throw the clock away and go home when the tides fully in or its dark - whichever comes first, I often wonder what it all implies to everything non-human mind?
  19. I`m just under 400ft here and seen only half an inch of wet snow thats almost gone now, seems 30-40 mile north makes all the difference as west yorks appears to have a few inches at similar elevations? Nice pic Stratos BTW
  20. Wet snow started just before 6am here lasting an hour or two before eventual sleet then rain, currently 3.2C and peeing it down but skies appearing a little brighter to the west, 966 mb still falling, 59% rel hum, breezey westerly. Surprised to see half an inch of wet snow these days, nevermind in the first week of december!
  21. 1.1C total cloud cover, southerly breeze beginning, 995 MB steady, I`m 50/50 on the "will she or wont she" but the nearby 600ft+ hilltops will get an inch or two like the 1980`s when zonal fronts frequently left snow deposits on the hills and peak district but only rain below 600 to 800 feet.
  22. ,,,So it was "me" - current overload of events, data and user comments has got my head spinning ever since the last countryfile forecast on Sunday (30nov) many thanks for clearing things up fellas
  23. I`m confused over the presenters comments on it being less cold at the end of week when she had a strong NE flow with the Low and its cold air pool off Norway? , (Am I correct though in assuming that in these modern day times we have to look at the "pretty bubbly presenters" and not pay any attention to what their supposed to be doing ie. - presenting a weather forecast to a professional and accurate degree? - I dont mind the ITV and local regional weather presenters as their free but expect much more from the licence fee BBC gravy train mob) or maybe its just me,,,again,,?
