  1. I went to buy a double mattress from ikea today... trolley with said mattress aboard turned into a fully functional wind surfer, took me clear across the parking lot. Thankfully no cars or humans were harmed in the making of this episode.
  2. Posted 21 minutes ago UK4 indicative of circa 10cm snow parts of Kent by end of Friday but this is almost certainly overestimated: 3-6cm more likely. The backing flow into Friday means we will see 2 or 3 discrete shower bands: one through Lincs; another through Thames Estuary to S parts of London; and a third probable into E Kent. Meanwhile, the Channel shower stream focussed into Dartmoor/S Devon/SE Cornwall remains a very consistent feature through Friday. 1-2cm accumulations fairly commonplace under any such convergence areas through Friday, with scope for 3-6 as previously mentioned. However, given lateness in the season, there's likely to be a marked diurnal bias governing longevity of settling: i.e. generally only from late afternoon to mid-morning at low levels wherever amounts of snow are 3cm or less (the majority). Edited by fergieweather, 21 minutes ago. Copied from the mod thread. That should put a smile on your Kentish dials. Rather nippy this am. Have a great day all.
  3. Sending you strength and may you be covered by peace that surpasses understanding. Big hugs John. Xx
  4. Mroning all. After the very heavy rain yesterday, seems we have a few flakes flying around here in Epsom. Have a great day all, and enjoy the snow if you got it.
  5. Don't quite know how to add photos. Hope this works. Superb day of snow here in Epsom
  6. Light snow here in Epsom, but covering over the foot prints from Fridays lot. I am so happy for your guys out East, now everyone in the SE can join the party.
  7. Oooops.Tom, so sorry I thought it was a max measure! I currently have about 8.5cm. My bad.
  8. Tom, I got just under 10cm. I have pics on my phone, but can't quite figure out how to post them.
  9. Lovely white powdery snow. Just under 10cm here in Epsom.
  10. Highways Agencies get the reports from Meto. In all fairness it truly is difficult to get the details (depth etc), spot on. It can be a case of damned if they do and damned if they don't. It costs tens of thousands of pounds per grit so If they do go out they are fairly confident of severe ice and a covering of snow. We had problems is the the grit in 2009 because the snow was just so heavy it was proving useless!
  11. London gritters on red action for midnight (footways) roadways will be earlier. Got emails from the kids schools warning of possible early closure as well. I'm sooooo excited now.... Bring on the snoooowwwwwwwwwwwww
  12. Paul I will take the further west option... oh and if we do get a Thames streamer I will take it at 12/1 option that you end up with polystyrene balls and the flow sets up directly over my head! (sorry could not resist, I just remember the last time that happened and your epic toy throwing episode)!
  13. Morning everyone. I am happy that we have not had the dreaded water droplet appearing on the precip charts yet. The ground is frozen solid, so even if we do only get light snow it should all settle nicely instead of turning into slush! -4c here in Epsom this morning. Wrap up warm.
  14. Snow in Epsom. Yay Well that lasted a whole 5seconds.
  15. Few little flakes falling here now. Dusting from this morning has all but gone, a few little specks left in the garden.
  16. Hubby just got the call to do a full grit in central London. I do think this is quite positive as they do not normally send the foot way gritters out if they are expecting rain. Quite a positive thing
  17. I am also confused John. I am in Epsom and I have been watching the updates for my area. They have snow to sleet to rain sleet then back to snow on monday. For tuesday we have sleet then snow again. I just can not figure how that happens?
