  1. Thanks for that coast. The closest one I saw said -3.3c but that cant be right either could it?
  2. Quick question. Where do you find out the dewpoint for your area?
  3. I think the MetO do have a hard time calling warnings for London and surrounds because of the large population. They are darned if they do and get it wrong and damned if they don't and chaos ensues. I feel for them really. As I am in the horticulture industry I really do agree with you with regards to snow cover providing protection. Last December it was due to the snow cover that we managed to save a lot of our plants in the nursery. We did loose more tender varieties, but without that snow cover we would have lost a lot more.
  4. I feel a heck of a lot like that dude with the whacky eyes right now! I did read of the extended MO forecast and it does look like the SE will be hanging on to the colder conditions while the Atlantic warms up the western part of the UK for a bit. BUT the 16-30 dayer has stayed relatively the same. If not as you say, there is always ice-cream! http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_forecast_weather.html
  5. Current alert level: Level 3 - Cold Weather Action in one or more regions of England Issued at: Monday 30 January 2012 at 10:37 There is a 100% probability of severe cold weather between 1000 on Monday and 1000 on Friday in parts of England. This weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt the delivery of services. Please refer to the national Cold Weather Plan and your Trust's emergency plan for appropriate preventive action. Milder conditions are likely to arrive during Saturday and Saturday night, with temperatures likely to rise above threshold values in all regions. http://www.metoffice.gov...her/uk/coldweatheralert/ Quick someone put a positive spin on this lot for me
  6. Hi where are you? can you put your location on your profile . hope you get some white stuff.
  7. Username home, I have the same feeling! Well we just have to wait and see what happens.
  8. Guys, I really recommend the Netweather extra radar. Its darn cheap for a month and SOOOO worth it. Go on you know you wanna
  9. WHOOOO Netweather radar paid for. Now bring on the snow.
  10. Im dreaming of a thames streamer... Just like the ones I used to know.
  11. Good ol yammers is on the ramp. Always puts a smile on my face. MetO forecast temps have dropped a bit for my area, but I must say the outlook is rather dry? I have noticed in the past 24hrs the forecast wind direction was ESE and has now changed to NE ENE.
  12. Bright with showers on Friday, and chilly northwesterly winds. Drier at first on Saturday, but possible rain for a time later. Mainly dry, bright, but chilly on Sunday. Updated: 0228 on Wed 25 Jan 2012 See the 3 - 5 dayer has removed the s word.
  13. Mine as well lol. Guess we better go to igloo making classes
  14. Booo to putting Rob in the cupboard. He was fun to watch. I can think of a few of them they should put in there instead! PS. Just wanted to thank Coast for the posts, they really do put a smile on my face.
  15. Fantastic post GTLTW! Even I can understand that and thats saying something!! Please keep us up to date.
  16. Thanks AWD, rather depressing thought. Guess I will just have to scrape up all the frost in my yard into a micro snowman
  17. Maybe the more knowledgeable folks can help me here. I know long term forecasts for specific regions are not very accurate, but usually if there is a cold spell headed our way, the 10 day forecasts will trend downwards . Well I have checked everyone of them online and they all show above average temps for me for the next 10 days? Is this because they are based on gfs output, or are we going to totally miss out on even a cool down?
  18. First air frost of the season..... Hopefully a taste of things to come.
  19. UK Outlook for Friday 13 Jan 2012 to Sunday 22 Jan 2012: The first part of the period, many central and eastern parts are likely to be dry with sunny/clear spells. Temperatures expected to be near or just below average, leading to overnight frost and fog. It is likely to be cloudier further west, with some light rain, perhaps becoming more persistent and heavier at times in the northwest. Temperatures here closer to average. Uncertainty increases towards the end of the period, with the most likely scenario for unsettled conditions to continue across western parts of the UK, especially in the northwest, perhaps spreading east at times. Settled conditions are likely to continue across eastern areas, especially towards the southeast with an ongoing risk of frost and fog. Temperatures generally near average, but rather cold at times in the east and southeast. Updated: 1115 on Sun 8 Jan 2012 Well that little update today is a darn sight better that what it read yesterday.... could we at least be looking at something more interesting than 10c and grey skies? (I swear my thermometer has been stuck on 10c for ever)!
  20. I think i'm in the wrong line of work! That's a tidy sum to make from one fence! Our area has also had quite a few flat fences, I could have made a small fortune. Epsom race course lost it's roof, the RAC lost part of the roof over a swimming pool, and two trees came down at my sons school. I think that little spell of wild weather caught most people off guard. I have to admit, I do love weather extremes but I am actually looking forward to some settled conditions with clear skies and warmish days... Not that I am giving up hope of some snowy weather and long hours of lamp post watching. Here's to hoping a SSW event does come off and we land on the right side of the cold
  21. Even had me a light frost in my backyard! It is very pleasant outside today, nice and crisp with NO WIND! Perfect day to go and fix the fence panel which blew over. Have a great day all.
