  1. nice one Coast.. and here's the link to the WSA-Enlil model http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/wsa-enlil/ added to the never ending weather bookmarks
  2. Some of the northern hemisphere models look a little shocked or is it just me who can see 2 eyes with scary look, must be the many pimms
  3. umm mine just turned up this morning too.. only 3 months delivery.. ...that's one Christmas pressy sorted then ps; press the snooze button for the backlight
  4. also: http://cloudappreciationsociety.org/ great source of info about clouds... and if you join the society you get a badge
  5. Minus 5 uppers today (wasn't it gorgeous in the sun) then plus 5 uppers next week end, 3rd place at the Grand National, each way bet - what more can I ask for - roll on glorious spring Tis going to be fabulous to see all the plants/tree/flowers come out at last - all at once !! Bye bye winter - it's been pretty in the snow but it's time for you to go
  6. For amusement.. I just let our 9 month old kitten out in the back garden… so funny watching him jump up to catch the flakes and chase them round… he seems very happy but a bit confused when the flakes disappear on the ground - hours of fun - wish i was a cat - wish i had a video camera (-:
  7. What weird weather.. the sun has come out and it's snowing. 20p flakes and there's shadows on the ground Could be our final snow before a potential breakdown next week... Then again maybe it'll be a snowy breakdown as the warm air from the atlantic hits the cold thats been over us and to our east for sooo long??? No idea really but certainly need some warmth soon... the heating bill is going to be mammoth.
  8. (-; yes.. when will it change - Cold and dry for the foreseeable but if the atlantic weather gets here will we have a gradual warm up or a 'show down' of warm hitting cold producing winters last blast? The nice thing about this recent snowy cold spell is that the snow (if you had any) has slowly disappeared and not turned to slush over many days. A lovely crisp morning today with the suns light warming the spirits for sure. I'm hoping for one last dramatic blast in April then a sudden warm up into proper spring/summer... but hey I'm a dreamer (-:
  9. Our easter camping weekend has just been cancelled due to snow drifts on the farms field we were going to stay on. Don't suppose any of you know of a cottage by the coast that could sleep 3 couples? - Fri to Monday - pref with an open fire PM me if you do EDIT All sorted now - found a place with a hot tub
  10. The 850's GFS showing a slow ramp towards 0c (click image below for interesting sequence) Looks mainly dry - so far......... Night time ground temps below freezing & day time temps as cold as the bottom tray of the fridge keeping the vegs fresh! - soooo looking forward to going camping in Leicestershire this weekend - Who needs a fridge when camping anyway
  11. yes interesting watching those showers come and go on the radar. Had a few light snow showers since silly o'clock this morning making a total 10cm so far ! Our chickens water was totally frozen - so warm water with mealworms treat for them at 6am this morning (-: Temps holding all morning @ -1c and dew point steady @ -2.4c Some of the showers developing out to the East make it in land, some don't and fade away, some come in pulses seemingly out of no-where. The last 6 hours+ on these web links - speed up the animations (-: http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/radar?CONT=ukuk&CREG=ukuk&LTYP=6std&LANG=en&STRUCTUR=_&W=0&L=0&SLP=0&ROAD=0&CITY=&LOOP=1 http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/satellite?CONT=ukuk&CREG=im01&LOOP=6&LANG=en&STRUCTUR=_ Wasn't expecting anything significant out of the sky today but welcome a surprise or 2,,, brrrrrr out there - can't see this stuff round here melting in a hurry.
  12. Apologies if this has been mentioned before so forgive me for repeating it: 'Happy Birthday Gary' I hope you get buried in snow! - sorry - all the snow you thought wasn't possible, you deserve it - as it's your birthday ps Still snowing here (just) - looks beautiful out there, around 8 cms so far
  13. Good morning snow fans 2cm+ depth (so far). What a nice sight to wake up to. Everything covered and snow still falling. Temp 0.5c dp -.06c Tupperware filling up nicely!
  14. going in chat involves leaving a nice warm room to freezyly push buttons on a keyboard (-: Open fire is nice... but it's not where the PC is .. yet! Snow stopped here for now... (despite what the radar says) might check in here later with gloves on - as forecast (muffled cough) said settling snow may appear again later tonight - hope so Red Wine is a good idea... 'mulled' tonight definately
  15. Have just lit our fire and looked out of the window to see big juicy white flakes falling from the sky....lovely - feels like Christmas sooo much looking forward to tomorrow - good luck everyone - hope you all get to enjoy some of this white stuff Stay safe
  16. Huge flakes dancing from the sky around here - a sign it's getting warmer, dp of 0.0c and temp of 2c - bottom of hill it's raining ! Radar says precip ending soon - not expecting anything else (snow) till late eve Would welcome a few surprises tho.. Will avoid driving too far north of Luton this weekend Have a great day everyone
  17. The new SNSM model (Sat Night Sunday Morning) clearly illustrates what is going to happen
  18. recon your're right there... watched with envy when everyone further south had their share last time
  19. NW Overload in March amazing Has anyone seen any snow from the sky via their lampost yet?
  20. liking that very much at the mo' (-: temps etc dropping here: @ 5.40pm = +3.5c, dp+0.7c @7.10pm = +3.0c, dp-0.7c (negative dp !) cloud cover and wind picking up. Really not sure what to make of the sat and radar. Will the slowly approaching front raise the temps as it has done further south or as night progresses will the wet stuff get icy? http://www.sat24.com/en/gb?ir=true & for a bit of hope for some, similar to post above: http://www.meteorada...uk/forecastloop not rated by many as v-accurate but it is interesting to see just one of the many projections. The output from the models and faxes later will no doubt be very interesting. BUT the radar and warnings from the met o will be our friends this weekend as things will rapidly change as t=zero approaches. IMBY nightmare Personally I wouldn't want to venture north of Luton this weekend. Rather stay here safe and enjoy what might happen Remarkable synoptics for the end of March !! & from earlier thread… best get prepared: http://forum.netweat...20#entry2651845 WARNING contains tupperware! and a small bird for scale & cuteness
  21. well I don't know about you but I quite like dressing up temp dropping quite fast outside here 3.5c dp0.7c seems to be getting quite warm in here tho
  22. to relieve the fatigue try this in preparation for summer's daiquiris Place tupperware outside. 8cm deep should do it apparently (cough) When full with the cold white stuff pop lid on, put in freezer. Arrange BarBQ on NW forecasted hottest day of year and pour said alcohol into tupperware to serve via v-large glasses.
  23. I love rhetoric... there's just not enough about these days (-: el'oh'el brings to mind "tomorrow is the today you worried about yesterday"
  24. (-: wouldn't it be great if the met forecast rain.. and then it turned to snow in the evening, falling all night to wake up to the results of our last winter blast of this season, make a snowman etc - followed the next day by a very quick thaw to let spring back with a vengeance? but of a dreamer me.. might need more crayons with fine tips this week
  25. yeh and we can get struck by lightning, have a tornado and an earthquake all in one day up here.. plus snow ! Happens a lot
