  1. I get where you are coming from.. There's a many variables this time of year that the models are programmed to follow via x many previous outcomes and present scientific observations but given there appears to be a double warming (SSW) in progress the 'whip' of effect down to our meagre troposphere could be interesting, esp how our fave or not so fave models handle it's evolution... High over Greenland + Atlantic Low... drifting west -ve or north or back to Atlantic driven normality eastward? plus is there enough excuse for convection to produce snow in a so called spring atmosphere or will be static atmospheric easterlies till the Atlantic influence blows though? exciting yet i suspect worry times with regard to normal warmth and rainfall this time of year. Daan here (IMBY) it's been a very dry Feb to welcome spring, our plants are very confused
  2. Never ceases to amaze how in such a small country how different the weather can be.. this is our garden this morning, barely got above freezing today, the snow hasn't melted since it fell (-:
  3. Quite a surprise tonight as the hook of snowfall came upon these parts! So.. armed with imaginary dog (+camera) went out for a stroll and encouraged those with bald tires to engage 2nd gear up our hill and took some seasonal snaps (-:
  4. Stunning shelf cloud captured before storm hit WWW.BBC.CO.UK Video shows a shelf cloud - a type of arcus cloud - form before a thunderstorm hit Portland. and some moving pictures (-:
  5. Looks like you're in a good place... But then again a shift left or right might favour a surprise
  6. Bang on target that last storm - right over us - gave us 25.2 mm of rain. Such a wonderful sight and sound after so long PXL_20220817_145835751.mp4
  7. Let's face it... it's easier to keep warm than make it cooler at home. Charity shops are full of lovely warm clothing right now - stock up on vintage hand knitted jumpers/blankets et al. Check the pockets for cash tho (-:
  8. Just wanted to say hi to all the people experiencing Abbots Langley where-ever you are tonight and possibly tomorrow as illustrated by the BBC forecast this eve @ 8.30 pm - love it - thank you beeb
  9. .. ok so I tuned in after a hard days radar watching to find out what the weather forecast on the BCC (8.30pm) was for the coming days... It seems that 'Abbots Langley" is where the weather is
  10. OMG first mention of the "S" word and I got a 'book early for Christmas' email today Fingers crossed we'll get some proper rain in the next few days - can't bare radar watching this time of year and watching what little wet stuff fall and evaporate 10 seconds later
  11. Excellent photo Iceman.. I've taken one on my mobile phone tonight through the dried up leaves of our apple tree... not as much detail in the moon as your.. but the weird reflection from the pond through some glass windchimes worked for me whilst being bitten by small flying creatures with pointy teeth ... oh for some proper rain - the garden is dying
  12. Having followed the models these last few month i can only suppose a relief in the form of thunderstorms (as unpredictable as snow in the winter) will be quite extreme rainfall in places, plus after a drought will prob not offer much of a relief but more of a pain in terms of flooding. Welcome to the extremes - my father in New Zealand is experiencing a lot of water after several years of not enough.
  13. Us peasants me' lord, wont dare put the heating on till 2024 at this rate.. Maybe we'll come and lean against your outside walls
  14. Looking forward to some "out of nowhere" rain here too the garden looks like the Serengeti right now
  15. My highly accurate weather station mounted a top a wine rack on a flat tar covered garage roof Pretty hot round these parts tho: https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/IWELWYN8

  18. The way things are going right now.. any lovely surprise (snow) would be a welcome sight, if only to bring a brief contemplative smile edit below from: WXCHARTS WWW.WXCHARTS.COM A new weather forecast model data viewer for Europe and North America.
