  1. and this website illustrates with a burn stain where it happened - LOL https://www.windy.com/-Show---add-more-layers/overlays?radar,51.625,0.598,9 ps make the Goat run for 6 hours - bottom of screen
  2. Oh Shirley not another one! Thought about getting some sleep In coming could be a fun night for some https://en.sat24.com/en/gb/infraPolair
  3. Lovely storm just passed by - soo cool and wet (-: More later pleeeze
  4. Fabulous... but next time can you turn the strings of garden lights on
  5. Been outside to have a beer sitting on a wet seat - Yayyy! Want to pitch a tent in the garden tonight, inside home its 31c - outside is a lovely 21c ! On second thoughts it might be a bit wetter tomorrow by the time I wake up
  6. I don't think I've heard this much of a constant rumbling of thunder in my life.. Seems somewhere a little south west from here is really getting some (-: so we'll prob miss this one. But for anyone missing out so far rest assured these come out of nowhere just look at sat24 clouds Goodluck
  7. Just had one storm (ish) and waiting for the next one to come over - very dark here
  8. Big intermittent drops of rain accompanied by near constant rumbling thunder here in Welwyn
  9. What to expect There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life translated to: We can’t accurately predict where thunderstorms will happen (a bit similar to snow) but rest assured they are likely, tho not definitely in your back garden When, and if a Thunderstorm happens it will be wet and flashy, so keep grounded and take care out there, especially if you are playing golf with your grandmother We’ll update you all via social media and the web when we hear there’s something important to report or might do this just before it happens - if there's more than a small chance
  10. Oh ye of little faith - fear not, the warmth will come again briefly ... but it will before the end of Summer
  11. Lots of lightning and thunder in Stevenage, just north of here. Looks good on the radar too
  12. Frustrating isnt it? been hoping for some rain from this but as you say it just disappears before it gets here.. I'm off to water the plant pots.... maybe that'll make it rain check this loop out for the last three hours: https://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/radar?CONT=ukuk&CREG=cha&LTYP=vie&LANG=en&STRUCTUR=_&W=0&L=0&SLP=0&ROAD=0&CITY=&LF=0&SUM=0&LOOP=1
  13. Great photos. long lens ? (-: The 'sun behind tree' image is very poignant - looks like a wild fire
  14. re OP Seems we've had 'waves of extremes' the 'beast from the east' - cold then warmish then another shocker cold that confused spring plant growth Now we have dry oscillation - hot then little rain and what looks like another dry spell coming in thro August to further confuse crops Maybe the jet stream is reacting to something higher up in the stratosphere, little of which i know about but there seems to be a pattern of decaying extremes with regard to winter and summer this year - esp in the south. Might have an Atlantic driven turbulent start to autumn - repeat/rinse till winter - then who knows.. but very interesting to experience if your life doesn't depend on the weather !
  15. Indeed, same here 34.2c and need rain. Just had a Cobra meeting, took one out of the fridge, lid off and ready for some storm action on Friday's day off. Bring on the cool...
  16. (- : we're so fortunate to live in a country where the most common conversation is the weather; changeable, unpredictable and impact-full. The same could be applied to a few other countries for other reasons - i know which i'd choose... but please make it rain soon please , cant cope with Waitrose running our of mixed salad - LOL
  17. "Happy Easter" everyone; as seen on page one of this thread - Sorry bit late to the party Temps here are melting my chocolate 33c + Here in our Scorched Serengeti-esk garden knees bruised - praying for rain, blisters somewhere else - rain dancing... the mother of all thunderstorms could be a cure yet want to see the lunar eclipse on fri night - ummm, daddy or chips?
  18. I like a summer with 25c max and rain at night... i know, i know it's unrealistic but this dry spell is too much esp with the cloudy still humidity. When's the storm coming.... We have a water meter yet have resorted to filling the water butts in fear of impending hosepipe ban. The amount of plants in our garden and the cost to replace them would be way higher than a water bill - i hope! Feel sympathy for the farmers/growers.
  19. Cat came in an hour ago... he was wet, yet looking at the grass and plants i'm guessing he was sprayed either by a neighbour who hates cats or another cat ! ew No rain club continues here and it's getting me down Can't believe I'm posting this as a snow lover
  20. been watching that band move slowly toward your part http://www.radareu.cz/?lng=uk hoping it doesn't fizzle out before the lower part of it (presently over the cotswolds) reaches us... Every time rain looks like its coming its fizzled out before it gets here.... since 16th June !!!!!
  21. I'm tempted to look at the moon phases and sun spots in conjunction with a few farmers near the seaside for a decent forecast but i hear that putting a sea shell up to one's ear is quite good also 5% chance of rain 19oc here on Meto 1% chance of rain 20oc here on BBC Looks warmer and dry-er with a likely hood of boring sameness on all other investigations ! but what do i know interpreting the forecasts available? 'ummm there be change in the air in these parts, the 4 by 4 's and sparrows ar' nigh be seen'
  22. Apologies if this subject has raised and had it's head cut off in other discussions but I couldn't find a thread that dealt with the disparity between Met office and BBC forecasts. I'm at a loss as to know which to believe since the BBC dis associated itself from the meto. Oh and those percentages (%) for rainfall, toss a coin at 50 % chance for the past hour... sounds like covering ones backside to me. Presently I'm using Sat24 for live images, rain today or Netweather and some apps. All well and good for NOW but the next three days forecast seem to have become very different and confusing. This one is great if you want to build an arc: http://mp1.met.psu.edu/~fxg1/SAT_NHEM/animweur.html Navigating within this page is desperate: http://wxcharts.eu/?panel=default&model=icon_eu,icon_eu,icon_eu,icon_eu&region=europe&chart=overview,850temp,wind10mkph,snowdepth&run=06&step=030&plottype=10&lat=51.904&lon=-0.154&skewtstep=0 and a crazy alternative to what was presented previously on national TV and tinternet and then there's Meteociel.fr for fun !! Our national forecast on mainstream media has gone 'breasts pointing upwards' IMHO (in my humble opinion)
  23. Yup..pretty big indeed for our parts.. it woke me up and now can't get back to sleep - wish I'd been awake to take some photos https://en.sat24.com/en/gb/rainTMC maybe a bit more before the night over but I'll prob miss it - again (-:
