  1. Sorry to be really IMBY but im flying out of London City tonight at 8pm and they usually ground flights there at the drop of a hat, is all this supposed to kick off later in the evening?
  2. showers are all dying time they get across to the east, shame, are they planned to pep up later as can get the kids out after work?
  3. Heavy snow in Edinburgh now at the coast, quite unusual ! Already a few cms
  4. Would have more luck hunting for lord lucan than cold this winter. When does the hunt for spring thread open ?
  5. Really starting to look forward to spring now with longer days, warmer sun and writing this non descript winter off ! At least here we saw some snow back in November
  6. You know when you log in here for a read and the first post you see is talking about low pressure in Italy in 300 hours that the games a bogey
  7. Totally agree with the above, it’s like saying we have 2 elements out of 100 that point toward cold whilst ignoring the 98 that don’t. It could all change but all signs I see are pointing to a mild winter and that becoming a norm as the climate warms year on year
  8. I’m actually quite enjoying the milder weather this winter, if nothing else because otherwise the heating bills would be astronomical ! amyway it looks set to continue for at least the foreseeable with nothing remotely cold on the cards
  9. It hasnt stopped raining here for about 26 hours, horrible and ground is totally sodden. The band this morning looks like a forth streamer but without the cold to make it useful !
  10. I suspect that like myself there are many others who have been model watching for many years on here that were seeing the literally thousands of posts in the last week and thinking the same thing. Indeed even more so given the divergence in output Once you accept less than T+96 with cross model agreement as the number 1 rule in winter and ignore all these boom posts at t+168 etc from the usual suspects it gets much easier !
  11. There are going to be so many disappointed folks in the Mad house. I can see somewhere (yorkshire, peaks etc) getting a decent fall but will be very marginal everywhere else and will only last 6 hours. Thousands of posts and most here will have seen more snow back in November lol
  12. GFS Op has a small feature bringing snow to many on the east cost xmas day afternoon
  13. Kind of my view too, hundreds of posts on what is in effect a few hours of marginal snowfall . Many folks saw a lot more than that earlier this winter
  14. i will laugh if it all ends up in N France and there's a good chance it might. looking increasingly dry and cold xmas day here though unless we get some convection off the N Sea
  15. Its interesting as to what they see as 'great' is worse for us as the snow line is further south and scotland is dry/cold. Hopefully swings back to the 0z
  16. Regardless of how this plays out the GFS has modelled this better than any other model and picked up the signals far quicker than the the ECM and UKMO. It also got the recent storms as well (despite some continuing to think it has a habit of blowing up lows). Kudos to it.
  17. I think many of us are quite excited at the prospect of a white Xmas, we just have to plough through endless posts saying dreadful run, bin it, winter is over etc. go post that in the moaning or regional threads or the mods should be moving them there as it’s utterly tiresome
  18. And will no doubt refer to his back yard rather than anywhere else in the U.K., getting a bit boring now this guys IMBYism
  19. For the north looks a snowy run and a great chance of a white Xmas, hope it verifies !
  20. Can’t be bothered to read up the manic ups and downs in the MAD thread , what’s the possible outlook for here later next week ? Chance of snow at Xmas ?
  21. Would you? day after day of cool anticyclonic grey muck is just about the worst weather type I can think of. Far rather have some storms and blue sky in between , at least it’s interesting . This time of year mid latitude HP which sticks around like a limpet just takes weeks out of any potential setup conducive to snow
