  1. I see we are back to hanging the hat on a possible SSW in 3 weeks time that may or may not actually down well any decent Synoptics that may or may not create those Synoptics in favourable locationx wake me up when it’s spring !
  2. And this is the problem with the hope casting that goes on here when it’s Atlantic driven for the forseeable. Tomorrow in Scotland is dry and cold with rain and some snow on the mountains arriving late into the night. 95% of the Scottish population won’t see a flake
  3. Do you want him to lie to make you feel better? I’d rather read honest analysis instead of long shot charts at +240 and ‘signs’ of an SSW keep up the good analysis kasim, you are one of the better ones on here
  4. Would you take long warm, dry, summers and mild and wet winters (as per a fair few of recent years ) or average summers and cooler winters with one or two cold spells (as I recall as a kid from the late 70’s / 80s) on balance I’d take the sun and the warmth
  5. If you set aside weather favouritism having a very wet and mild Jan actually benefits the country in multiple ways. Economically obviously for many people but also the recovery from the drought of the last 12 months and the replenishing of rivers, water tables and aquifers. If hot summers and wet winters are what we are heading towards that’s not a bad place to be
  6. Sat on a plane at Edinburgh and have been for an hour, coming down hard here and they’re having to de-ice and clear the runway
  7. Sitting on a plane at Edinburgh airport and snowing heavily here so flight delayed while they de-ice it
  8. We had a little bit here yesterday but overall it looks pretty dry for most in the coming week. Have to say I’m not a fan of cold and ice with no snow, not my thing at all
  9. Matt Hugo with by far the most sensible post this am saying that until anything is within 120 hours then just treat it with a very large grain of salt even by netweather standards the mood swings every 12 hours have been violent !
  10. Why is it every morning the charts being posted are t+168, 192, 210 etc? Always in the unreliable range. And booms everywhere. odd to see so little cold air in North America / Canada though
  11. indeed, a few of the usual suspects setting themselves up for major disappointment snow wise, at least it will feel seasonal and hopefully we get some clear blue skies in any cold northerly, not slate grey muck
  12. Indeed so the sensible thing to do would not be to overreact to this mornings output, given yesterdays, and see where it goes in the next few days will that happen? Of course not
  13. lol, when will they ever learn, it’s honestly become a parody of itself these days
  14. BBC 1830 forecast week ahead city view had dry and cloudy with temps at 4/5c. So basically a nothing week and they aren’t seeing anything unusual ( sure that’s actually what Thomas Schaffer Nacker said)
  15. Looks like cold and wet coming , horrible. Staying out of the mad thread as things start to downgrade as we get closer
  16. It’s painful reading the mad thread, it’s like lemmings off a cliff, happens 2 or 3 times every year Great charts at 168+, that day after day stay at 168+. Then if we are fortunate to get past that, lower res shortwaves find some way to spoil it. If you only look at t+144 charts , once or twice a day I think that manages expectations !
  17. Indeed, temps of 4/5c, slate grey skies and the odd light shower is about the most miserable weather pattern imaginable
  18. Yes it’s way way too early to get excited, I reckon 1 in 10 of these long range Synoptics ever comes off and that’s being generous
  19. I don’t mind a wet spell of weather coming up, having seen the state of the rivers and resivoirs this summer and just how bone dry everything was I think some refilling of the aquifers and ground water is much needed
  20. lol that’s so true, people on the mad thread chasing a frost as any prolonged snowfall now appears so hard to come by in a warning climate
  21. Just seen the latest on the predicted heating bills. Im all for cold and snow but i truly hope this winter is mild and wet Will seem crass people desperate for cold when folks cant afford to heat their homes
