  1. well the "big dump" is forecast from rush hour onwards, but already we're back to low visibility and huge flakes
  2. thanks for that - now can you stop throwing snowballs at my house James as you have got height advantage
  3. well I never thought I would hear a BBC weather, live on BBC1 utter the phrase "some parts of the pennines could get 50cm of snow tonight" :o oh, and snowing again here
  4. back again - another heavy snow shower here - strong winds and starting to drift on a small scale
  5. well, so far, we've certainly had more than expected  and forecast to keep going for another 24 hours. What intigrues me is Wed and Thurs. The current update gives us very little on Wed and then very significant falls (15-20 cm) on Thursday  . Unfortunately (and not surprisingly) the model thread appears very quiet atm - any explanations please?
  6. phew - had a worrying spell of half an hours sunshine lol - clouded over and back to complete cloud cover and snowing heavily again correction - close to blizzard conditions atm - visibility is down to less than 100m
  7. well this has thrown me - huge white flakes, close to blizzard conditions, this is some of the most impressive snowfall I've seen in years
  8. bloody hell it's belting down now - visibility is down to 100m
  9. wooooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooooo - got the call from work - it's a Snow Day - snow play today
  10. hope you don;t encounter the same chaos as the fiasco in December
  11. snowing again - steady and moderate falls - can;t see the sky yet, but this looks like a long spell
  12. woke up to find a very good covering - about 4-5cm depth here - that was enoguh to cause chaos last time and wondering how much more we'll get today?
  13. thanks SA - you always give advance warning of what's coming over the Eastern Horizon <_<
  14. I guess that's what they call localised <_<
  15. gone very quiet here snow wise, there is a covering on the ground including the roads, but that's it - here's hoping the next 8 hours deliver
  16. c'mon guys let's settle for 3.3oC - no personal interest involved of course bloody hell - why am I worried about the CET competetion at this time
  17. it's belting down now, flake size has increased and it's definately settling with visibility down to 200m. Added to that, MetO have a flash warning for this area - could this be far heavier than predicted ?
  18. steady snow fall here now - been snowing for half and hour, strong wind but it's starting to stick. The last cpl of days have really dried the ground out
  19. big flakes here too, and it's sticking. Wind is still very strong, so they are falling at about 45o (and I meant angle, not temperature  )
  20. and yet they have downgraded the warnings for Tuesday for all bar scotland and the edges of the west of the country? yet warnings are up for Wednesday? have to say I more than a little confused
  21. light snow and grains falling now - and in this wind - almost horzizontally
  22. have to agrre iand, we usually pick up plenty off the pennines, so I'm still confidant we'll see a fun few days
  23. well this area has just seen a significant upgrade and the "milder" spell isn't as mild as it was, so here's crossing my fingers for that trend to continue and we see a week and more of proper old school winter weather
  24. I really can't believe I've got my fingers crossed for the "milder" air to hang on til the end of the month as I'm within the ball park for the january CET
  25. clear skies now, cool 6oC and dropping, a bit of a breeze and a nice quiet night ahead, bar the clicking of the updates on the model thread
