  1. Yikes that's some briefing, looks to be a very dangerous afternoon/evening in prospect. Wonder how we'd cope in the UK with such life-threatening events? We barely cope with snow and volcanic ash! Ahh yes the ubiquitous dongle! Yes I was going frantic not being able to watch! Stream's great at the moment.
  2. Glad you're able to view, did you have a word with BT? I'm sorted as well, knocked the add blocker on the head, stream's looking great. Keep safe everyone, looks to be a dangerous day ahead.
  3. Problem solved! It was the ads, we allowed the particular ad supplier through our proxy and now I am watching the live stream! Never has blue sky looked so good.
  4. I think it's the ads that's the problem here - it's the last thing that is trying to load and after that I just get an unresponsive play button. That would explain why it doesn't work on all 3 of our different operating systems, because our proxy has ads blocked. Might see if other half can unblock that particular ad site. I do recall viewing the ads last year though before the live stream.
  5. Can't get it to work at all, despite clearing cookies/cache. Very disappointing, no idea why it won't work when it did for me about 5 days ago.
  6. No joy at the moment unless the stream isn't playing. I also tried on OH's Windows 7 netbook and that doesn't work either. Will try again later! Good luck with the chasing guys n gals.
  7. Noted! Just appeared to be online as there were some comments in the Facebook section that suggested people were viewing it... will hang on and hope I can view it soon. If not on my laptop then will pinch other half's Windows netbook.
  8. Hmmm maybe I need to update my Adobe flash player? I don't see the advert, I think our proxy server blocks them. Will try clearing my cache, thanks Paul.
  9. Sadly cannot get it to play at all which is odd as I was having no problems a few days ago. Have there been any updates or something that might affect whether I can view it? Am using a Mac PowerBook G4 and Firefox 3.6.17. When I click on the play arrow nothing happens, not even the loading sign.
  10. Is the stream actually live at the moment? It says online but I can't get it to play, when I click on the play arrow nothing happens? It was working fine for me a few days ago.
  11. Ditto for me Andy, have lost the stream awhile back and it's not loading.
  12. Nice clear picture now - the radar images in the area look intense!
  13. Hmmm at the moment I can get the live stream but the part that connects to Facebook isn't loading nor is the GPS map. However lovely clear picture in the stream! Edit: Reloaded the page and got the map now, but not the FB comments part. Doesn't surprise me actually, knowing how slow FB can be at times.
  14. Just dropping by to say I'm soooo looking forward to watching the live stream, and hope that you guys have fantastic twister-packed tours!
  15. Oh dear. Well I guess having 5 vegetables a day might not be such a good idea after all. http://nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif Should I be thinking twice before picking and eating that nice green broccoli I have outside?
  16. Absolutely gorgeous weather here in Malvern over this weekend - temperatures have reached around 21oC during the afternoon, wind very light, less today than yesterday. Hardly a cloud in the sky! Some high cirrus this morning but clear as far as I could see westwards in the afternoon. Fabulous!
  17. Those poor, intrepid and brave souls - one has to wonder what their futures hold. It's the caesium-137 that's the real worry rather than iodine-131. The latter has a half life of around 8 days and so it's going to reach safe levels quite rapidly compared to caesium-137 with a half life of around 30 years!
  18. Haven't been online for a few days, but notice that no-one has as yet mentioned the use of robots inside the Fukushima plant, which was reported a day or so ago in various sources: new scientist link Scientific American link AOL news link
  19. Spring tides could also pose more risks to the stricken region, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. Images are in the link, I thought they might be too large for the forum. http://www.jma.go.jp...pring_tide.html See also these pages on the same site for weather info: Japanese Rain Radar Surface Analysis charts
  20. A picture today of one of the badly damaged reactors (actually reactors 3 and 4 at Fukushima): newspaper link
  21. Maybe the radiation is currently too high and so too much risk?
  22. I heard a little while ago on BBC news that the workers are back in the plant again - it was only abandoned for an hour or so. It is hard to get a clear picture what is going on, though.
  23. Things going from bad to worse, latest in the Guardian: Guardian link
  24. I don't think the current radioactivity release is high enough in the atmosphere for weather balloons to detect? Not yet anyway. I think it's a pretty complex subject, dispersal of radioactive matter, depending upon a number of variables such as particle size, height of explosion, wind direction in the lower, middle and upper atmosphere, weather conditions (raining or not), etc. Whoa - that really drives home just how many aftershocks are going on, doesn't it! Thanks for that link.
