  1. Yeah feels very mild outside today, actually feels colder in the house but at least there’s no heating on. as you say, looking at lot cooler by next weekend, just hope it can deliver a covering of snow rather than the usual wishbone we always seem to get from a cold northerly but even a few dry seasonal days with a sharp overnight frost and cold days would make a change from wet and mild muck.
  2. Same here, the mower saw its last action of the year almost a month ago and even though it’s been pretty mild, the grass has hardly grown since.
  3. For once it looks like the weather gods have been kind to us up here. pretty much walk to wall cloud all day but dry throughout day light hours and unlike yesterday’s damp, raw breeze, today has felt pretty mild.
  4. Same here, a day that probably turned out better than the forecast. A usable sort of day and I used it to cut back a couple of trees and shred the pile of stuff that came off.
  5. I came across one of the burned out fireworks when I was out walking this morning and I’m pretty sure men went to the moon in something smaller. they’re certainly a far cry from the piddling little things we used to let off when we were kids.
  6. Looks like that fog has got a bit fed up with being in Yorkshire and decided to creep over our side of the ridge and with it bring its best mates, cold and damp with it. it’s certainly changed the feel of the day although I suppose it’s a bit more seasonable and certainly an improvement on the rain of recent days.
  7. A couple of photos from this morning walk (sorry it’s lockdown 2 so essential exercise) plenty of mist and fog about but mainly clinging to the Yorkshire side of the ridge with sun over here. Not a big fan of wind turbines but they are looking good poking through the fog on the tops.
  8. Dry for much of the day but it turned damp during the afternoon. pretty standard stuff for the time of year I suppose.
  9. Haven’t seen the Meto forecast but I’m happier that they are showing something wintry than if was one of the annual ice age cometh “experts” who usually come out of woodwork at this time of year. what does the Express make of it though as a headline of 3 months of torrential drizzle and record breaking mild should give us a decent cold and snowy winter
  10. I was just about to ask you that. never mind there’s alway next year or let’s just go for December being the snowiest since the last ice age
  11. Presume Zeta is an ex hurricane and what we are getting is the edge of that with the main storm well up in the North Atlantic
  12. Did most of my bonfire building growing up in the very late 60’s and throughout the 70’s and seem to remember a few times when there was snow around that time but can’t be sure on the years. that said, up here snow used to be a lot more of a part of winters then than it seems to be now and it often started around this time of year.
  13. Flood warnings starting appear now for the more prone areas and plenty more rain and wind to come. stay safe everyone
  14. Hopefully November will be the driest in the last 50 years but I wouldn’t bet my last fiver on it.
  15. Well I got the power washing done and, apart from about 15 minutes, it stopped fine so not to fussed what the rest of the day throws at us providing it’s not flooding.
  16. Yep it’s hopefully looking better later in the week. The ground is saturated so we certainly need it to allow things to dry out a bit.
  17. Was going to power wash the drive and front of the house today but looking at the weather at the moment and the forecast for later I think I’ll just throw some detergent down and leave it for Mother Nature to deal with it
  18. Agree with the schools bit but in the parallel universe that Boris lives in he considers schools of more importance than anything that actually produces something for the economy. But this is for the COVID thread and yes the weather has improved a lot this afternoon, even picked up the last of the leaves.
  19. Yeah you can see it now, people lined up outside supermarkets in a raging blizzard before being allowed in for their weekly rations looking like something from a Soviet era Moscow. i suppose on a positive note though, at least the snow will do something that Boris doesn’t look capable of and close the schools.
  20. A bit of an improvement today from yesterday but TBH after yesterday’s monsoon, anything would seem better. it certainly wasn’t dry around these parts though’ more a case of being less wet but at least it gave time for river levels to fall back a bit again and give those in more flood prone areas a bit of a breather before tomorrow’s and Sundays rain starts to pile up again.
  21. Well today’s been a bit on the damp side. On the plus side at least it stopped that wind blowing the dust about.
  22. No looking at the moon and Mars here, it’s absolutely hammering it down. just getting us ready for the rain tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, Sunday zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  23. It’s no wonder that our infection figures are so high then apart from the fact that countries further even north still have less cases. at least that’s a crumb of comfort I’m hanging onto otherwise we’re doomed
  24. Never understood why it’s there but there is a sculpture of the Alien stood above the front of my local pub. it certainly looks weird when lit up at night.
  25. If you could get it from rain there wouldn’t be lot of demand for supplement tablets around our region this weekend. shame it can’t wash the damn Covid down the drains and out to see.
