  1. I think it is safe to say that the Atlantic is pretty dead in FI on this run lol http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn3601.png
  2. Very exciting times ahead it seems which is great! Could someone tell me why the updated metoffice 30dayer doesn't scream severe cold as some on here are suggesting could happen. Thanks GSL
  3. For what its worth I recall all but around 10 showed a beasterly at that time. Things will change but my glass is always half full.
  4. An interesting tweet from Matt Hugo!! Matthew Hugoâ€@MattHugo81 Jeez, no consistency but all 51 EC ENS members show a block developing to the NW of the UK by Sat 9th/Sun 10th and bring in an E/NE'ly flow.
  5. Well I will personally thank you for sharing that. A few places could get a few suprises come Friday night!
  6. Not quite on this run but I also was thinking that an easterly does not look out of the question towards the middle of February. Positive signs as the Atlantic onslaught after the chart posted seems weaker. Lets see if this becomes a new trend over the next few days.
  7. Not a bad looking chart for what its worth at that time scale. No doubt a few of us would see a bit of snow if that verified, I would love to see the heavy snow shower type.
  8. The 528 dam line is one of the factors needed if you are wanting showers to fall as snow. Hope this helps.
  9. Give it a while and you will learn loads, trust me. The winter time on here is in my opinion the most exciting time to join. Since I joined just over 4 years ago I have learnt loads and continue to do so. The next few weeks will hopefully be very interesting if the cold is your thing.
  10. Another GFS run and the TRENDS remain. Build of pressure towards Greenland after this week, followed by something that is not a million miles away from an E/NE later in FI. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn3001.png
  11. Another positive tweet from fellow member Matt Hugo regarding possibilities after this weekend. Matthew Hugoâ€@MattHugo81 Reviewed and definite trend/signal in the EC ENS for more of a N or NW'ly flow after first week of Feb as blocking re-develops.
  12. I agree with what you have said here as there are no guarantees predicting weather, especially after 4 days. The TRENDS do remain positive for a colder outlook after this week though at present which is enough to keep me and no doubt many others interested in the models over the next week or so.
  13. Interesting thoughts from Matt Hugo. It would seem he doesn't expect to see zonality lasting too long either. Matthew Hugoâ€@MattHugo81 The ECM ensembles will be fascinating tonight to see if the cold theme is evident there. This unsettled/mild theme won't last if you ask me.
  14. More importantly the trends remains for pressure to build towards Greenland during the first full week of February. The detail will change run to run and at present I would not be too concerned that the cold on this run remains too far east as this will no doubt change nearer the time (further east/west who knows). Plenty to look forward to if you ask me as the zonal train is looking pretty short lived at present.
  15. Thats all my snow gone! We have had a covering for nearly 2 weeks which was amazing! Roll on the next cold spell and for even more snow and cold
  16. Not a bad run from the GFS 12z as from around day 10 we see a northerly develop before hights build towards Greenland (If i've read the charts right) We finish with this which screams potential if you ask me (huge pinch of salt needed I know). http://www.wetterzen...s/Rtavn3841.png
  17. The snow storm you refer to must have been great, just wish we could have joined the party.
  18. Looks like everywhere had a good dump of snow last night except for here. Started off as snow but quickly turned to ice pellets before turning to rain. Work up this morning to a very icy slush mess with little if any covering. I would love to know what went wrong as conditions seemed fine for snow. Went to Louth this morning and they had at least 3 inch, even in the town centre. Shouldn't complain though, to have 14 days snow cover at near enough sea level is not to be sniffed at.
  19. A good dusting here now, not the big flakes you guys in Leeds areas have mentioned yet but hoping for some of that later on if the radar is to be believed.
  20. You should hang on to most of your snow tomorrow mate, Sunday is when it will get washed away sadly
  21. I'm hoping for that too. Those dark oranges/purples look lovely on the radar and should hit our area over the next few hours.
  22. Going by www.raintoday.co.uk I would say looking pretty good mate.
