Grimsby Snow Lover

Snow started here finally, quite large flakes blowing in the wind. Current temperature of -0.2 with dew of -3.5

Yeah I read that earlier, perhaps thats one of the factors that have made the met alter their long range forecast for the first half of Feb. I will be looking for this trend over the next week in the hopes that something cold arrives again before the end of Winter.

Nothing here just yet but conditins look good tonight with an air temp of 0.2 and falling and a dew of -3. Keep the faith, the snow is coming.

Really looking forward to tonights fun and games, could be it for a while. Having said that the met office update has improved again for further cold in February. First thing in the morning I am going to make the biggest snow pile I can!! Hope you guys further west enjoy the snow, send some my way asap

Totally agree SB, for the first time in ages I was actually pleased to loose the strong easterly wind!! It brought little convection snow showers to our part of the coast and prevented the temperature from falling below freezing due to cloud cover. Perhaps a north easterly will be better for us?

I know what you mean, here on the coast the wind has east/northeast wind has felt cold but has actually kept temperatures above freezing every night from Friday (last night being the exception). Our temperatures shot up here today too by around 3 degrees in an hour today which has had a negative impact on our snow cover. I would love to experience a Feb91 type easterly where huge amounts aof convection snow showers were developed over the north sea. Hopefully Feb this year will deliver, at least the metoffice further outlook supports cold around end of Jan-mid Feb.

Paul Hudson has mentioned something on Twitter saying patchy coastal sleet snow will push inland throughout the day tomorrow but amounts expected to be small Paul Hudson â€@Hudsonweather Another raw day tomorrow, rather cloudy with patchy sleet and snow in coastal areas slowly spreading inland through the day.

Yeah, It really suprised me too to be honest. It started settling around 1am and left a good covering, nothing like Dec 2010 but much better than other coastal areas like Bridlington.

Other than a few light showers possible tomorrow I would say no, perhaps towards end of the week when the cold weather breaks.

Having just mentioned the radar I'd thought I'd take a look. Looks like a pretty good streamer setting up to affect coastal areas of North Yorkshire. Scarborough/Whitby should do well hopefuly.

Your best bet would be to look at the radar www.raintoday.co.uk. This is far more useful in this kind of situation. The 7 day local forecasts are quite unrealiable to be honest. Good luck though and I hope you are right

Looks like you guys further west did very well last night/today, and to think you all were worrying if the front would not reach you lol. We had a good few inches here this morning and with a high of 0.5 hardly any has melted, currently just below freezing (first time since Friday). Hope to have some more snow this week.

Steady snow has fallen here for the past few hours leaving a good 4-5cm on every surface, I was not expecting anything so a nice suprise. Temp 0.4 with dew of -1.5

Well I've seen enough tonight to know not to expect anything for around here, just too much temperature modification from the sea. Good luck to you guys further inland. Really hope to wake up to a covering at least but just can't see it as conditions are far too wet and marginal.

Still no new snow cover here, if anything our previous snow cover is disappearing quicker! If the temperature would just drop another half a degree I think we could be in business. How things in Skeggi doing?

Our temperature has dropped nearly 2 degrees since it started a few hours ago, still no covering but temperatures are just about heading below 1 degree for the first time since Friday evening.

It very heavy mate, you should do pretty well out of it I am sure.

The wind is so strong here the flakes are blowing horizontally! The thinnest covering on the car but its a start.

Heavy snow here as I type, looks fab in the lamp post outside. I keep on getting the look of the wife which makes me laugh. The local weather website here is predicting totals of around 7cm, can't see it some how but would love to be proven wrong.

Blizzard like conditions here with quite large flakes, probably very wet flakes but the temperature is decreasing slowly so hopefully a covering could be on the cards.

Could really do with some heavy snow for a few hours to repair our lack of snow cover, having had a good covering for nearly a week I want it back. Impressed by the temperature though.

Bigger flakes of SNOW starting here now, reports from Skeggi fill me with a little optimism.

The temperatures are finally falling here but only slowly. Currently bang on 2 degrees which is still way too warm for anything other than sleet at the moment.

Going by Wunderground I has hope that our temperature will fall enough for us to see snow here in Grimsby and surrounding areas that are affected by this WARM east wind. The website has Skegness and Boston at 0 and they appear to be under heavier precipitation than currently here. We can but hope. Further inland looks great for tonight, very jealous.
