  1. Just a brief post haven't been able to post for a few days because of cookie problems, but it was nice to see that snowfall in chelts yesterday it was very fitting with the carol singers around. Did last for a few hours mind and did settle just to light to make much difference. Tonights snow looks touch and go now might just skirt us to the east, I'm still holding out hope that we might get a few cms Current temp -1c freezing that was a harsh frost last night.
  2. Just got back in from a course in cheltenham, and it's bitterly cold out there once that breeze drops of temps around here are going to fall rapidly. Saying that it's already 0.5c outhere coupled with the windchill it feels more like -5c I saw that a couple of snow showers that filtered inland earlier just skirted chelts and tewks, but there was some of the white stuff down the road in gloucester albeit brief. I can't wait to see the main forcast later on bbc hopefully it will firm things up a bit more.
  3. I know I'm an hour late but at last brilliant we have touchdown, wind here in the last 10 mins has picked up so maybe we might get some of the white stuff in tewks. But with a temp at 2.1c it will probably be a wet snowy/sleet mix, Rob m's forcast earlier was a classic all areas to see snow by sunday. And monday he wouldn't elaborate but cryptically said it has huge "potential" and monday hah.
  4. Tell me about it cold spell, what cold spell, I wish it would hurry up and get bloody started, Just got back from chelts and it's been cold rain all day since this morning. It even feels milder than yesterday, we must still be entrenched in that milder sector at the moment, it's so frustrating when 80 miles across the country in reading/Berkshire gets get a few cms of the white stuff whilst us in the west are clutching at straws right now. after that little rant I still think are time will come in the next few days, even I know the specifics of forcasting snow right now is head banging.
  5. Wow this cold spell looks like it's really going to very intense and severe over the next 5 days or so, after looking at the snow risk charts for thurs the cotswolds and anywhere with higher elevation in the southern midlands could get some respectable snowfall by the end of the week. Thats if they are to be believed? I see metcheck are going out on a limb with there projected temps going as low as -9 by monday night and not getting above -2 by day.? anyone dreaming of a white xmas yet Current temp 2.1c no "proper snow" as of yet but think I had some miniscule grains earlier.
  6. Well Little Rissington bearing in mind it's 210mASL has been recording a temp of 0.4c in the last hour, so that meens Dps must be slightly lower than 2-3c now I'd say hovering around the 1c mark, which explains why birdlip probably hand snow earlier. Give it a few hours for my area and me and dogs32 might see the 5 pence size flakes later.
  7. Iv'e Just got back in from cheltenham in the last half hour and I didn't see a flake? Certainly cold enough for it out there though. I hear there are reports of snow on birdlip nr stroud can anyone confirm this? if true thats a good sign for us later.
  8. Current temp here 2.2c and cold sleety light rain since 8pm, well about 90% rain and 10% sleet. Was watching the midlands forcast earlier and mrs shefali said we could get a few cms over higher ground tommorow evening, this has potential to catch a few people out like Nov05. What's all this talk about heavy snow on friday in our neck of the woods Dogs32, I hear the ever optimistic Darren bett said this earlier. Can't wait to finally see the white stuff falling from the sky this week, the anticipation is killing me "nah not really" he says

[quote name='dogs32' date='14 December 2009 - 01:28 ' timestamp='1260750516' post='1637430 Stormchasing superb....if you love lightning and a good laugh thats the thing to experience....to much to say here... On a snowy note,,,,,,was you around in 82? can u remember the large snow dumping then... I was born in the 81 blizzard with the 6ft snowdrifts and frozen waterpipes, now that was hardcore if we get anything as bad as that year this year it would be utter chaos. glad you enjoyed the summer mate.
  10. Hey Dog's nice to see you have come out of the woodwork! how was the summer stormchasing? I know the next week or so looks mouth watering at the moment for snow potential, when I saw tonight's 18z I nearly fell of my chair Yes we had some light sleet here abot 4 hrs ago, bring on the beast brrrrr
  11. Hey Dogs Nice to see you back! I only come out of the woodwork in the winter months, nice to see you posting again. Next week does look promising for snow? but the specifics will flip flop in the next few days lets just wait and see?
  12. Yes I agree it's revolting if your out working in it, I had to come home after a few hours work cutting back a 20ft long hedge, I just couldn't bare it anymore. the payoff was watching murray breeze through to the semi finals against fererro so I'm happy. Temp has dropped a few degrees in the last 3hrs from 30.2c at 13:15 to 28.1c at 17:20
  13. Now the sun has been quite bright here for the last half hour, I now have the hottest temp of the day here at a "sweltering 28.5c"... Gloucester just down the road looks like it could be hitting 30c very soon going by reports on here l
  14. Current temp here in walton cardiff Tewkes, 28.1c, "hottest day of the year here so far" B) I know worcester weather station has recorded the magical 30c, in the last half hour...... Any other reports in the west mids and southern mids yet of 30c being reached yet peeps? Temp now down to 27.8c in the last 10 mins due to more cloud building from the west.
  15. Yes I know a week to remember in many ways, and maybe a few more snowy spells on the horizon before winter draws out.
  16. Yes I totally agree we couldn't have asked for more over the last week with snow falling every night and every day since last sunday. quite exceptional I might add, with some respectable snow depths for most you certainly can't say it's been a flash in the pan. Snow extremely light now in the last hour leaving a 3cm covering
  17. This is insane I have nearly 2cms level snow all within the last hour huge blizzard here never seen anything this feroucious before wow
  18. Intensely heavy right now bigger flakes pitching fast nr blizzard conditions now huge flakes
  19. I might drag the dog out with me later, it's stating to pitch just about now on paths
  20. really heavy SNOW here at the mo settling on cars fast proper fine snow brilliant, flakes getting bigger :o
  21. SNOW not heavy enough yet for it to settle but it's getting heavier a power outage that would be a first it's gonna get hairy later
  22. Yes I have proper SNOW now moderate, awaiting blizzard conditions here
  23. Not quite there yet the snow is to slushy at the moment, you have proper snow yet temp 1.4c
