  1. It's only a few days ago that confidence was high for a 2-week bitterly cold spell starting from tomorrow. Is that in the balance now? GFS started a trend? Yday Ecm and ukmo had the low barely affecting UK; today's runs show they've moved the LP for end of next week north (compared to yday). GFS today also moves it further north (compared to its runs yday). Interesting few days coming up, for sure.
  2. You know what it's like in the politics thread with the clans north of the border
  3. I think Cornwall will be right in the firing line all week, almost from 'the off'. Suspect Thurs/Fri event will hit south part of our region; not convinced it'll get any further north than South Somerset, Dorset.....just my opinion folks.
  4. Thursday/Friday It's like a final episode of a 6-part TV thriller. The director filmed 3 different endings and even the lead actors/actresses dont know which one will actually be the final episode until the evening it airs.
  5. Take a look at T120 ukmo fax. It shows that feature way south of UK and pretty flat. So tonite's GFS has probably overdone and overblown any LP approach OR Is ahead of UKMO.
  6. As well as this coming Thursday's possibility, take a look back SW across the Atlantic on the attached graphic and there are two other 'potential' runners lining up if they move towards SW England 7 days plus from now.
  7. If you follow back SW into the Atlantic there are 2 more potential LP 'runners' lining up.....interesting times indeed.
  8. Oh the irony!! BBC website now leading with news of the 'cold snap' coming (more like spell). But....... The article is plastered with quotes from Meto and references to Meto! You couldnt make it up! Ditch the Meto for the forecasts, but v happy to quote Meto in articles on the weather. Bizarre.
  9. This system by meto is for public service providers like councils. Take care type briefings.
  10. MetOffice alerts are ramped up more these days due to h&s and nanny state encroachment.
  11. Basically bone dry up here next week i reck. Threat of snow later next week seems to be receding (imby). Boring HP and cold.
  12. Take a look at Snowballz post in the Mad thread. Very interesting. I think she works for Meto if i remember rightly.
  13. Not quite NK. But here in Bristol i think we had 3 decent snowfalls over the space of about one week in 'that week' of Feb 09. It seems we're shaping up for some snow action towards end of next week thru the w/e for our neck of woods.
  14. I have a hunch that we (in the SW & Southern) could be looking at 7 days (from midweek next week) rather like 'that week' in Feb 2009.
  15. Meteogroup these days. Continually underplaying temps. Today forecast to be 6/7c for here; actual max was 3c.
  16. Cold? Yes. V Cold? Eventually, Yes. Snow? Hmmm......i still think we are in one of more sheltered spots here in Bristol. But, other parts of our area like South coast, IoW, S Devon, Cornwall, far east of our area are prob in firing line from 'the off'. I still think, for most of our area, the biggest threat of disruptive snow comes towards end of next week when pressure starts to fall from the South/South West. That is my take anyway. All i ask.... is for No Repeat of March '13. Dry, cold but no snow - no ta!
  17. Yes i've noticed the Meteogroup beeb forecasts seem to be quoting incorrect temps. Today was down for 6/7c here but it is 2c at the mo. Sunday's (this Sunday coming) temps were forecast on last night's forecast to be 6/7c here - Really?! If Sunday gets above 3/4c i'll be surprised.
  18. I'm holding off "jumping on board". Seems to be an increasing chance the HP will end up virtually sat over UK and coldest, snowiest trundles its way into France and Spain. An option first aired by Catacol i think (as a possibility) the other day.
  19. It has been a possibility for a few days as shown in some model perbs. Catacol has flagged the possibility a number of times.
  20. I have an unopened Martin Miller's and a Brecon Beacons Gin already opened. The BB one is ace; cant remember exact name of it - it was a bday prezzie. But it is lush with slice of lime, ice and fever tree. Gawd i want one now but am on dryers til this Thursday
  21. Bought 2x1L bots of Bombay Sapphire for £30 on Thurs night on Tui flight home from Mexico. Bargain!
