Regarding the rain/sleet/snow moving down from the north tonight its not a typical straight northerly with showers being eaten up by the mountains. Its all wrapped up in a little feature that runs down the east coast so although it doesn't look intense it does look as though some precipitation will remain.
In terms of what will fall out the sky that's probably a bit less clear as there is also some warmer air wrapped up with it. Having said that it low ground may still be around 1-2c and dp's around 0-1c so it's not exactly balmy. If there is existing snow cover the temperature is likely to be a bit lower.
So, it's definitely marginal but some could get lucky and wake up to a cover of a few cm's.
