  1. Not sure it will reach us although worth watching. It looks as though it will get to parts such as East Kilbride.
  2. Been watching it form and its a cracker. It seems to be gradually moving a bit further north and looks as though it might start affecting southern parts of the Central Belt later on.
  3. I've been tracking the GFS ensembles daily since the onset of this cold spell and they have continued to extend the cold weather every day. They initially showed the red mean line warming up and crossing the -5c upper air temperature on the 28th March for my location but its now out to 6th April. This pattern seems locked in.
  4. Definitely looking interesting. Hopefully they can remain potent as they continue moving west over land.
  5. Tonight is one of the few nights this winter/spring that I've really noticed the temperature falling quickly. I've gone from 3.3c to 0.9c in just over an hour. Dewpoint at -3.5c.
  6. Some light snow showers have given a fresh covering to add to the remaining patches of snow in the shaded parts. 0.7c/-2.1c. No breakdown of the cold conditions showing across the model suite within the reliable timeframe and if anything its seem to be extending.
  7. Snow shower getting all the way across to Campsie. More than a flurry but saying light snow is probably pushing it.
  8. I seem to recall that your looking for at least 15c difference between the upper temp and the sea temp, the bigger the difference the better, but you also need some atmospheric instability. There are probably many other factors though.
  9. During the week I've generally just got phone access and I use the weather pro app. On that if you click satellite I find it gives a good view of cloud types. From that I noticed earlier the clouds moving into North East and similar moving out from Denmark area.
  10. Convection off the North Sea is slowly increasing. Looks promising.
  11. The radar is certainly looking more promising this morning.
  12. Sunnier morning in Campsie with a cover of snow remaining and the hills looking great. 1.4c/-4.2c. Good agreement for cold to continue throughout the coming week. It looks mainly dry with the wind dying down a bit over the next few days which will bring some hard frosts. Shower risk should increase as we move through the week, moreso for eastern areas. My attention will be on the end of the week and the next attempt by the Atlantic to bring in Spring. Scotland is favoured to stay on the cold side with any precipitation remaining as snow. The GFS, as is often the case a bit progressive, UKMO less so and ECM the best option for those wanting to stay in the freezer. GFS by Saturday:- UKMO ECM
  13. Out there clearing the drive and I've got some nice mini drifts. Some parts very little cover and some 15-20cm deep powdery snow. There should be minimal melt as the dewpoint is low at -2.5c and dropping while the temperature is holding steady at 1.2c. The wind is still gusting strong.
  14. It looks as though there could be some more snow for the Essex area overnight into tomorrow.
  15. We've had a decent fall here overnight. Its hard to estimate depth as theres been quite a bit of snow blowing about but ranges from 4cm to 15cm in the deeper parts. Still snowing but mainly light. 1.0c/-1.5c.
  16. Looks like a bit of convection off the east coast. It would be interesting if the almost static front combined with convection.
  17. Pretty bad conditions just now. The snow is not particularly heavy though, although its hard to tell really as its blowing horizontally at about 50mph. 0.9c/-1.3c.
  18. Just patchy snow left in the garden but good cover just 50 metres up the field at the back. The wind is really fierce and the snow is back on. Looking for the temperature to drop a bit for another covering 2.1c/-0.4c.
  19. The snow has almost stopped now in Glasgow city centre as the first front dies out. The second front looks much heavier but definitely is not moving at the pace of the first. Have no idea how far north this one will get.
  20. Heavy snow all the way into Glasgow. Local roads affected but mains roads are fine for now. Looks like this could be quite a notable event especially for parts of South West Scotland.
  21. Pretty much blizzard conditions now with heavy snow getting blown in on a very strong and blustery wind. 1.0c/-1.0c.
  22. Snow has arrived. Small flakes blowing about and lying on impact. Temperature had risen before front arrived but is now on the way back down 1.9c/-2.0c.
  23. This is looking like a severe winter storm. It looks to me as though it's moving much faster than predicted and unless it's slows up the leading edge of the front will reach Glasgow within the next 2 hours.
