  1. Looks like it'll be getting rather soggy soon, a slow thaw seems to have set in now and the snow which fell earlier is already melting!
  2. Sounds like low pressure to the south to me, could be quite a snowy pattern.
  3. Heavy snow again, looks as though Tyne and Wear is getting quite lucky this afternoon!
  4. This is the third best cold spell in the last 10 years in terms of snow depth, although it hasn't felt as severe as January or November & December 2010. I'm pretty sure this area did well in 2005, but thaws kept the maximum depth at 6 inches or so.
  5. Trees are starting to drip - must be getting marginal when the snow is lighter.
  6. Its actually just very fine snow - phew! Larger flakes starting to fall again though. That was as good as any North Sea shower I've seen to date.
  7. NickR, 2.5cm of snow would equate to 2.5mm of rain. You can see the depth quite well here: This is upsetting, its turned to drizzle!
  8. Just measured 18cm in the middle of the garden - not bad! Obviously there's less on pavements but even there its quite deep to walk in.
  9. There looks to be over an inch where the bin was standing up until 8am, not bad considering it wasn't lying on clear surfaces until half an hour ago!
  10. Looks like marginality returns later this morning - expect drip drip drip if we get any precipitation at low levels!
  11. Its fine snow here too, but there are some larger flakes in there.
  12. I'll bet it was snow a few miles west of you - I have a similar elevation but I'm 8 miles from the coast, and there's still loads lying in the garden.
  13. The thick slush on my street is now white, still coming down heavily.
  14. A good inch on the bin lid - rapid accumulations considering how small the flakes are!
  15. Very heavy fine snowflakes, starting to clump together on the bush outside indicating that this is no longer marginal.
