    I think Dianne Oxberry probably reads this forum from time to time, its one of the first links in Google sometimes and she's bound to be interested in weather given the job she does, other forecasters have been on here and I bet more are lurking without posting. She probably said she liked snow to shut you lot up after reading all the criticism! For all we know one of the regular posters could be her, you just wouldn't know if she didn't make it obvious!

    Another snow shower in Newcastle now. At 8 miles inland and 80m asl I must be just getting snow as its rain and sleet on the coast and conditions here aren't normally much different.

    There's been very little net decrease in snow cover if I am to look on the bright side of this, and it almost all fell as snow.

    Depth is 14cm on the grass here - yesterday evening it was 15cm, but it had fallen to 12cm this morning. The paths are extremely slushy now, we need it to all thaw or be covered with a fresh layer of snow before it freezes!

    It has certainly turned less wet here, so I expect things to improve for you in the next couple of hours. Having said that, the intensity is easing of here now.

    The likes of Rothbury are going to be buried at the end of this, looks more intense up there.

    And it's turned heavy again. East facing roofs and chimneys are caked in snow, yet all other sides are clear!

    Very heavy snow here, much drier now and blowing sideways in the gale force wind. Better late than never!
