  1. Pig sick of cold, grey drizzle now. Unfortunately a common thing in winter and early spring especially when the wind is from the east. At least evenings are finally getting lighter. Now just lighting up time as I'm heading home from work. Another two weeks and I'm finally clear till October- oh the joy!!
  2. Grey, drizzly and cold - bleugghh... 4c max and min 0.9c overnight. At least it was just about light enough to see my keys when I got in from work instead of the usual fumble in the dark! Now at stage where street lights are just coming on as I'm heading home. Another two weeks and I'm finally clear!
  3. Holy cow it's sunny! Hail overnight but now mostly sunny with some fluffy clouds moving past quickly. Almost springlike in how it looks... 5.1c after 1.5c min overnight.
  4. Another forgettable winters day... low cloud, some periods of light rain, cold wind. 2.5c min 4.8c max - yawwwwwnnnn....
  5. Just to have temps above 6c again would be nice. Sick to death of grey skies with temps 1 to 5c which a majority of winter seems to be. Cold, sunny and frosty weather is great but this unending grey nothingness with a nagging drizzly wind only broken up with brief sunny spells is vile and the main reason I am not a winter person. This kind of weather is the default for winter around here so I find it hard to get excited about the season. The days are definitely getting longer now - 4pm is complete daylight even under cloudy skies with 5pm not far off. Sunset is 1714 today (compare 1551 at solstice) and solar max altitude is now 24.1 degrees (compare 13.7 degrees at solstice). (See: http://www.timeanddate.com for this info for your location). Once sunset hits around 7pm I feel content again - which continues as we move towards 2134 sunset...
  6. Thanks for that! Will still look at updating it a bit - perhaps finish doing the graphing part. If there's anything else you might find useful then let me know.
  7. Grey and miserable again with some light drizzle on and off. 2.6c the low now 5.3c. Yawn...
  8. Seen a few snowdrops around in places sheltered from the east wind (getting decent sunshine whenever that elusive ball of fire appears). On those rare times the sun does appear it is somewhat higher in the sky and does feel a little warmer. None of that today though - another day of sheet grey cloud and it's now drizzling.
  9. Grey, cloudy and dry. Min of 3c now 4.1c. Thrilling stuff!
  10. Yes I've noticed this too - the warmth of the sun feels stronger when going up (in spring) compared to when going down (in autumn) - even at equivalent height. Probably down to perception as in spring you've been used to having very little heat for the sun for some months so even a little warmth feels good. Same as the first 15c in spring feels vastly warmer than 15c in autumn. Solar height wise we're about equivalent to bonfire night...
  11. Yes agreed - I often find myself dreaming about that very first warm feeling sunny day in spring around this time of year. It's one of the most lovely feeling when it finally does happen - a feeling of freedom to enjoy the outdoors again with everything coming back to life after the winter hibernation. Can't wait!
  12. Horrible dull weather with a max of 5.9c. Just add drizzle for the worst of UK winter weather!
  13. Several off topic or one line comments have been removed. Please keep on topic and post with 'substance'. One line comments like '12z is great' isn't really adding anything to the discussion. Thanks.
  14. Wooo got my weather station's outdoor temperature sensor back on again! Finally located a replacement after not having data since early December - typically missing the extreme cold period! Anyway... currently 3.2c after a low of 2.8c so very little variation to test the thing with! Low cloud and miserable - typical winter rubbish weather.
  15. The very thought of 'Spanish plumes' makes me feel warm inside! Sat in the pub tonight looking out at the dark, cold conditions wishing I could be sat outside in the warm tender air of summer... Don't like to wish my life away but there are times when I really would love to erase the struggle from Christmas to spring I really do!
  16. Perhaps lets stick to discussing the models from now on maybe? Just an idea to stop your posts being deleted!
  17. A vile trek home in steady cold rain - singularly the worst weather type there is for being out in. Some brightness earlier but mostly cloudy and damp. Now around 3c.
  18. Still another month before spring and the real change isn't until late March really. There is a change though albeit a small one - in the same way August feels different to June & July. But still not that different...
  19. A mostly sunny and cold day with a good frost this morning. Days noticeably longer now as my birds were making a racket as I was heading to work (they've been asleep at the time since October now). Max around 3c.
  20. We already have a thread discussing this here: I'm gonna close this one
  21. Yes it looks like the app is no longer working as they've changed the URL. Will look at fixing this in the very near future.
  22. Please continue to discuss the latest model output. This thread is explicitly for the discussion of model output - please use other threads for other off topic posts. Personal attacks on other members will NOT be tolerated in this or other threads. Thanks and lets get back to talking about the weather
  23. I'm closing this thread as it seems no one can stick to discussing the models without attacking other members personally. We'll start a new one shortly once you've all calmed down.
  24. Lovely day - clear blue skies with a warm feeling sun. A cold start but now around 3c. Bit of a cold wind out but out of it and in the sun it feels lovely. Certainly looks good out there after the many weeks of grey skies. Northerlies = good weather in winter and early spring!
  25. Crickey that must be tricky when everyone is outside having fun and talking about how lovely everything looks & smells and there's you going 'damn I wish everyone was stuck indoors and outside was a dark land where the only movement is peoples' hurried movement from A to B...' Each to their own of course! Ah summer... when I gain an extra room in the house in the form of the courtyard/garden and sit in the evenings and watch the swifts fly around making their distinctive sounds with the smell of flowers on the gentle breeze.... bang back to reality... god the kitchen's cold, the heating is drying my eyes out and the fluorescent bulbs are giving me a headache again!
