  1. 17c with lots of sunshine at the mo. Feels warm out there, even though there is a fair breeze.
  2. *Stormforce~beka* Looks decent in Winchester too for most of the day. SunnyG yep very breezy, but very mild. Decent sunny spells now too so feels warm when the sun shines.
  3. Haha thankfully not! Only down side is that it’s going to be pretty breezy. I think the only part of what we would classify as the med that would get more prolonged spells of unsettled weather is NW Iberia.
  4. raz.org.rain 2019 summer had some cracking weather. Derided by too many. Ah I went to school in Chigwell, grew up in Ilford and now live in Chingford. We’re from the same part of the world - E/NE London & Essex. Chigwell and Epping definitely are both places that are technically Essex.
  5. CryoraptorA303 yep I grew up in Ilford and many people always used to say it was Essex, because it did technically used to be until the Greater London boundaries expanded in the 1960’s. But many of those eastern parts of G London are Essex influenced as it’s close by and used to be part of the county. Where I am now in Chingford is just within the border of G London, in Waltham Forest which is one of the 32 boroughs. But we’re only a 5min drive from Essex.
  6. In Absence of True Seasons this was our brief sunny spell early afternoon. Looks like Wanstead would have also been in the clear spot. Maybe you were in the bog at the time!
  7. Redbridge isn’t far at all from me, I’m in Chingford. There was sunshine today but it didn’t last too long before the cloud and a couple of showers rolled back in. ….and Redbridge is in E/NE London, definitely not Essex. Hasn’t been part of Essex since the 60s!
  8. Summer8906 I certainly wouldn’t call 21c with sunny spells a tragedy!
  9. Saturday, sunny in the east in the morning, patchy rain and cloud in the west. Clouding over in the east by mid to late afternoon. Warm in the east - 20 to 21c: Cold front pushes through overnight Saturday into Sunday. Sunday itself looks dry with sunny spells on the SE & EA, highs of 16c or so here. Sunshine and showers the further north and west you go:
  10. SunnyG yep more showers pushing in from the SW!
  11. Decent sunny spells now after a cloudy, showery morning.
  12. TwisterGirl81 Yes in the SE it is now more likely to be 22c to 25c as standard. Over the last 10 years, our peak average July maxima has shifted to 25c, from just below 24c in the 1990-2020 period. markyo Ok, all except markyo...
  13. In Absence of True Seasons I would say 30c+ and 35c+ days are starting to become more and more common. Ofcourse, there are years where they are less so, but that's to be expected when you consider that 30c is 6 degrees above our peak Summer average maximum, and 35c is 11c higher than average. So you'd actually expect them to be rare, but they are becoming more common. Even in what all of us consider to be a poor Summer period in 2023, we still achieved 30c+ 9 times in London, when including September. In the dreadful Summer of 2021, we still exceeded 30c six times, 4 times in July and twice in September. Take the incredible Summers of 2018 and 2022, and this is how it shakes out: 2018 30c+ days: 17 35c+ days: 1 (which is a surprise, but 2018 was more of a consistently hot Summer, rather than one that had exceptional heat spikes). 2022 30c+ days: 11 35c+ days: 2 40c+ days: 1 You then add in other recent Summers that people always look back on as being mixed: 2020 30c+ days: 10 35c+ days: 5 2019 30c+ days: 8 35c+ days: 1
  14. ECM settles things down across the south from the middle of next week: ECM pressure mean for the SE looks OK, better than it has been for some time, at least temporarily: GFS similar: GFS mean also looking good later next week for the south:
  15. Some continued signs of an improvement next week?
  16. Methuselah looks it. ALready posted above btw
  17. How’d you work that one out? Leeds: London:
  18. SunSean *Stormforce~beka* at the moment, I'll take warm and cloudy over cool and showery. We may get some sunny breaks too which will make it feel nice, albeit Saturday could be very breezy. On the face of it, this looks OK:
  19. This weekend could see us hit 20c for the first time this year...
  20. stainesbloke it's actually been a decent day today, lot's of sunny spells. Rain has set in now though.
