Currently enjoying glorious hot sunshine in Surrey but concerned at the current timing of our family holiday to north Devon from Saturday. Sod's law that the forecast is poor just as our two-week break starts near Exmoor.
Timing couldn't be worse!
Met Office just tweeted: "This hot spell is set to be the first time for over 20 years that somewhere in the UK has reached over 30 °C for 5 consecutive days in June"
Will be interesting to see how details are firmed up for later this week into the weekend, whatever happens this has been a memorable hot spell.
Yep, seems to be calming down a bit here, did have a huge crack of thunder earlier, seemed to be very near.
Having said that, it's just started rumbling again!
I think this is the hottest it's ever been so late in the year, nothing that I can see in the records beats it. I also wonder if the UK's hottest day of the year has ever been recorded so late in the season. Great to see this spell lasting into the week.
