  1. Lovely Spring evening for a walk by the canal in New Haw
  2. Couldn't agree more, weren't the models also predicting a wet weekend down in this part of the world a couple if days ago.Just shows to take things with a pinch of salt at short notice. Stunning weather today, ideal for a Christening for my godson in Walton on Thames, glorious sunshine and lovely temps too. Sat in the garden all afternoon with loads of children rampaging about, great fun!
  3. Just stumbled across this from last summer: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/summers-coming-at-lastbut-not-until-2013-7855035.html
  4. Good morning everyone! Thank goodness for a warm train, that wind felt bitter this morning. I'm now trying to think of what we can do to appease the weather gods to get some half decent weather.
  5. Some thoughts on the next few months from Matt Hugo, may be of interest to some in here... http://matthugo.wordpress.com/2013/05/14/summer-2013-thoughts-and-analysis/
  6. Matt Hugo tweeted this earlier this morning... "A one off wordpress blog coming up in the next hour with some thoughts on the up coming summer. #dontshootthemessenger " Not sure I like the look of that hashtag! And here is the blog: http://matthugo.wordpress.com/2013/05/14/summer-2013-thoughts-and-analysis/ Hmmmm, just hope Matt's analysis is wrong it can only be an improvement on last year, surely?
  7. We can only hope, I've been craving a good summer since the scorcher of 2006! Perhaps the 10th anniversary of the legendary 2003 summer might come up with the goods
  8. Morning! Matt Hugo has backed up the prospect of a possible rise in pressure towards the end of this month, perhaps summer will start bang on time
  9. Matt Hugo's latest tweet backs up the potential for a rise in pressure later in the month... "The consistency is growing for a pressure rise later in the month as again illustrated by latest GEFS 00z" courtesy of @MattHugo81
  10. Typical, forecast was for tomorrow to be better than today in this neck of the woods. Now looks like tomorrow afternoon is a washout, typically blue sky and sun here now. BBQ tomorrow afternoon will be fun! Grrrr
  11. I can't recall us having a really good summer since 2006, none of the summers since that have had anything that memorable. But as NickR we did have a relatively good August, and I recall the first couple of weeks of the Olympic torch relay were gorgeous too. I'm certainly not going to write off this summer while we're still in early May but we could really do with some more positive looking charts being thrown into the mix soon, it just seems the norm now that we should expect poor summers, certainly in comparison to the memorable ones of 2003 and 2006!
  12. Morning all! Well what a difference a day makes, there is a gorgeous fresh smell in the air as I head to catch the train. I don't mind the odd splash of rain, as long as it's brief!
  13. Morning all! Another glorious dawn as I headed into work on the early shift at 6am. Crystal clear blue skies across Surrey and central London. Hope you all have a cracking weekend, I'm sure there'll be a few BBQs getting an airing, make sure the chicken's cooked!
  14. May have been mentioned previously but World's Weirdest Weather starting at 9pm on Channel 4
  15. Good morning MK! Another gorgeous morning here, another day in the garden trying to catch up on some sleep, little one is feeding around the clock so as designated nappy man I'm also being kept on my toes. Good to see Matt Hugo tweeting this morninh about settled conditions as we head into May
  16. What a beautiful day, had family round to see the new arrival. BBQ and nicely chilled Rose on the go and a nicely red back of the neck too! Feel like I've emerged from hibernation Happy St George's Day to you all!
  17. Know what you mean, spent the day in the garden and sorted hanging baskets. Neighbours now having a BBQ, this is more like it!
  18. That downpour will work wonders on the seed I put on the my lawn a few days ago. Good day to stay indoors and look after bambino
  19. Thank you for all your comments on our new arrival Noah. He's certainly enjoying these Spring conditions and had a nice journey in the pram along the canal this afternoon.
  20. Thrilled to reveal that my wife gave birth to our baby Noah yesterday morning at dawn; considering my loathing for anything flood related a slightly ironic name Hopefully his arrival is greeted with some Spring warmth!
  21. I don't think I've ever had to contemplate buying more logs on April 4th. These conditions are really wearing me down, but everything is put into perspective by what Britain's farmers are having to cope with. Thousands of livestock wiped out is something that must be soul destroying.
