Remarkable period of snow her in Vale of Stratos in the wee small hours. The air was absolutely still and snow started falling very lightly (about 0.5 on Stratos's patent intensity scale), never getting above a three (and that only briefly). Clearly precipitation ahead of a warm front: what was unusual was the very slow speed of the flakes, and then the variation in speed between them. I counted the speed of drop over about 6m as varying between less than 5s and nearly 9s. When the snow got heavier the spped increased to about 2s. Don't think I've ever seen snow falling so serenely ever.

Gave a dusting by the time I went to bed (0530iDoh a dumb swear filter got the better of me), and looked like there had been about 5mm by the time I got up this morning.

We had heavy snow about 20 minutes ago, and constant light snow for the last hour or so, but only settled in the heavier burst. 0.9C.

Still lightly snowing. ;)

Very light snow has been falling here for the last two hours, rather unexpected as the showers were forecast to have died out by now.

Just been a slight sprinkling of snow here, looking a bit like someone has dropped icing sugar all over on the bits that had melted. Hopefully more to come judging by radar. ;)

Snowy showers today in North Herts/Cambs whilst out on my travels today. Whilst driving North, from home, big black cloud to the west seemed to stretch away westwards as far as eye could see, but was very narrow band. Snow was mainly pellets but occasional flakes mixed in. Temp here now -2C.

WHITSTABLE, KENT. 6 Hours of snow, still falling 3" and expect snow for another 2 hours according to radar. I saw this happening at 11.00 and why did the Met Office not issue a warning I ask until 4.30am, You could see it like a freight train heading for Kent. Most snow fall in this town since 1980's. :)

This is accurate measure.
