Well temps during the day have ranged from 8oC here in south derbyshire to 10oC in somerset.

I can confirm that it was and still is CLOUDY, calm.

Either.... 1.Your thermo is in direct sunlight

2. Your thermo is broken

3. You misread and it should be 7.7c

No way 17.7c today. Double figures were reached in Scotland in unbroken sunshine but the highest I saw was 11c in Glasgow.
