Decoder, takes all the donkey work out of it, does all data that I can see.

Thats the work of Mike Adcock, its all imperial though for miniobs in the version I have so I prefer to decode them by looking at them. The heights and other things are in metres for the USAF anyway.

As I've said to Mike before I think that file is cheating. :p

Thanks P.K.!

Would it be ok if we just almost take that as is and post it with credits to you for a possible pinned tutorial?

Looks very similar to the page I saw last year when needing to learn! :p (wasnt anywhere near so clearly put or detailed I might add)

Edit: I kinda like decoding manually, that Excel spoils the fun for miniobs :)

RECCO though, and dropsonde messeges etc, yep, will be using that little file me thinks! I have some idea how to decode them but at times woah, complicated!

SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL WAVE

OVER THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN SEA REMAINS DISORGANIZED... AND THE AIR

FORCE RECONNAISSANCE MISSION FOR TODAY HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE NO LONGER FAVORABLE FOR TROPICAL CYCLONE

FORMATION AND NO SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM IS EXPECTED

AS IT MOVES WESTWARD ACROSS THE CARIBBEAN SEA AT 20 TO 25 MPH.

That's pretty much the end of 91l then.

Onto the next one :)

I wonder if the low over the G.O.M. will amount to much today then? It may start to look pretty if the convection gets going :)
