Snow reports early March 2008

Had a heavy shower with some hail and sleet mixed in. Hail was quite big. Was surpised when the sleet started as the temp was a bit high. expect it must have dropped in the shower

Started to snow about 15 minutes ago. Quite blizzard like at the moment. I think it's starting to lie too.

Heavy snow after some huge hail, we just missed the 42mm/hr zone of the shower on the radar whch i presume wa a lot of hail!

We have a covering, best in 2 years and that is just showing how bad its been recently!

Light covering of snow here this morning from a hefty shower about 4am, it woke me up as heavy hail to start with, which then turned to snow. Seems to be a distinct lack of any shower activity since then Temp currently 1.1oC

Woke up to a very thin slushy covering in Leeds then a quite heavy snow shower from 7:40 to 8:15. Now the sun is out again and it's melting very quickly. As daft as it sounds, it's quite warm in the sun when the wind drops.

From the two soft hail/snow showers that have rattled through since 7 I guess S.A. may be updating soon. Seems to be a little enhanced as the hills give lift as well which bodes well for the day.......................

Heavy snow shower just now in Motherwell. Snow has settled well and there's a good covering. But now the son is out and it's starting to melt

Morning. Started raining just after 11am after a bright sunny start to the day. The heavier periods of rain are turning to sleet, a little surprising as it did not feel that cold on the way in this morning (Nb - i'm just south of exeter so only a few meters above sea level and a couple of miles from the coast/exe estuary). It will be interesting to see what we get from some of the brighter radar echoes showing up over cornwall?

Dusting of hail on the ground at Stratos Moor at 0500h, and a full cm of soft hail on the windscreen. Sleety snow showers as Ahmed drove me through Bradford. Apparently the snow in Kashmir is far more impressive.

Just had a mix of Hail and Snow, was heavy for about a minute then it died out leaving light sleet/snow which has now just this second stopped, did also get lighter here but now going darker again.
