The way the squall line is shaping up atm, I would probably like to get on tail-end charlie over SW Arkansas east of Texakarna right now, its tornado warned atm too. this would be an ideal early stop off on the way east before severe cells develop in the warm sector further east this afternoon.

Yeah the southern part of the squall line looks pretty decent right now though the whole thing seems to be decaying somewhat with the cloud tops warming steadily as the day goes go on.

Just waiting for the surface to hear up in the clear slots ahead of the squall line for something to go bang, also I wouldn't be surprised to see some severe weather also behind the squall line.

Nice Pictures Matt!

The problem with Supercells that hug the Warm front is lack of Structure, grungy looking storms with only brief glimpses of the Nado!

Ben Holcomb is streaming live, he's in Cross County Arkansas on some rotating storms now,

some lowering happening and a very low wall cloud, almost looked like a wedge.

Stream has been disconnected for the time being.

I think there is still some chance for severe storm development in the Wichita KS area, east towards Chanute KS later. This area is being swept by the secondary cold front with good upper dynamics, even though the one major problem here is that the warmer air has dewpoints only 12-14 C at present. With all other factors quite positive, the cells now on radar near the OK-KS border could develop to severe levels in an hour or two. Anything that does develop will likely be F1-2 but should have good visibility from the south, with activity likely to move NE. Will keep watching here (as my virtual position would now be south of Wichita). Further east there is a better chance of large tornadoes but I suspect the peak will come after dark tonight in IL, KY and TN.

16 Tornadoes From yesterday and most of them outside the Moderate Risk Zone.

And that looks like all for a while as an Amplified Pattern sets in, Long Range Models look pretty dull with the Moisture getting shoved way down into the Gulf Of Mexico.

If the GFS Is to believed looks like a Severe Event may be possible at the end of next week, The Euro Model not buying it atm though.

DAY 4-8 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK

NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

0148 AM CDT SAT APR 12 2008

VALID 151200Z - 201200Z

MODELS -- PARTICULARLY THE GFS -- HAVE BEGUN HINTING MORE STRONGLY

AT THE POSSIBILITY OF A SEVERE WEATHER EVENT DAY 6 /THURSDAY APR.

17/ OVER THE SRN PLAINS. WHILE THE ECMWF IS MUCH WEAKER -- AND THUS

LESS BULLISH WITH THE OVERALL SCENARIO...THE GFS SHOWS A STRONG

SHORT-WAVE TROUGH/MID-LEVEL JET STREAK EJECTING INTO THE

PLAINS...ATOP AMPLE BOUNDARY-LAYER MOISTURE RETURN. ATTM...WILL NOT

HIGHLIGHT A THREAT AREA...BUT IF THE GFS REMAINS CONSISTENT WITH ITS

Well, a pretty quiet period coming up for storms over the Mid-West ... however, GFS is showing some tentative signs of a shortwave ejecting from the Rockies across the Mid-Plains area ... if moisture return is sufficient from the south ahead of the approaching short-wave progged - then late Thurs/early Fri may see some t-storms over Kansas an parts of surrounding states such as OK, NE and MO.

SPC still have low confidence with this shortwave crossing the Plains later this week in their 4-8 day outlooks ... and have yet to issue anything.

Still looking Very Quiet in the Plains for the next 4-5 days, Chance of some Non Severe Storms on Wed/Thur but the Moisture return is not of a good enough Quality for any kind of event.

The one thing that may be interesting is the Sunday-Tuesday Timeframe, Models picking up on a few severe events on the 20-22nd April across the Southern Plains, One to watch!
