I may well be guilty of wishful thinking with my 30C, but I am sticking with it B)

The omen you referred to. Does the omen say anything about too much sun in May is bad for the summer, so the summer ends up being pooh?

If it does, I am hoping for more unsettled weather soon :)

As far as I'm aware, June and July 1947 were quite mixed but warm with some southerly plumes, including an exceptional heatwave at the beginning of June, and then August 1947 was a scorcher, similar in character to August 1995. Averaged nationally it wasn't quite as hot or sunny as August 1995, but there were exceptions (e.g. at Durham the mean maximum and minimum temperature was practically identical).

So that one was a precursor to a pretty hot summer!

I like the sound of that, a couple of heatwaves is about right for a good summer IMO.

It would certainly raze my eyebrows if we got scorchers in June and August Tws, the (August) 95 is in my opinion a proper vintage summer :p
