Yet again this has been discounted! The actual high maxima was 23.5C in Crosby. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_...st_weather.html I wonder why these early high figures keep disappearing? Still, at some point Id expect us to scrape a 25C in the London area over the next few days, possibly today as certain places are already over 23C at 12:00.
reckon you are right Reef currently 23.9 °C so still some time to peak, and probably warmer in other areas of london. if not today then i think definitely saturday

Met Office latest update at 1332 gives London as 24.8 °C

Well well well, check out www.xcweather.co.uk. Its not just a southern fling, Sky Lusa is currently reading 23C and Prestwick airport 24C!!!

London not showing anywhere near the 25C mark, wonder which stations are used on xcweather compared to Metoffice.

Yes has the temperature actually exceeded 26C at Exeter or is that just rounded up? I'm surprised by the number of places that have reached 25C, I fully expected one or two places to reach it but loads of places have got to that magic figure! Amazing when you consider how difficult it was to achieve 25C last August.

up to 20oC here, we struggled to get above that last year

I've been pretty amazed today by how far north and west the warm air has been making it's presence felt, amazing to be getting temps over 20C in the first week of May up there!

Im not too sure if that 26C at Exeter Airport was correct. Exeter Airport is now reading 21C as well and i think thats a bit too far to drop.

Been an excellent day here though with bright sunshine throughout and a max of 23.3C

ok people here is the proof of the high temperatures today taken around 3.30pm, the Electric temperature guage show the high temperatures in the sun and the mercury shows the temperatures in the shade. Camera was playing up so not the best of quality pictures for a 7.2mp camera. ;)

ILC

edit: the electric one shows 27.3c by the way

No offence intended, but I'm pretty sure that figure is artificially high. With constant sun, the temperature should not alter that dramatically until sunset. You need a Stevenson Screen, or similar, to get accurate figures.

UKMO provisional figures as at 00.01 today show that Great Malvern recorded 25.1c and Heathrow an impressive 27.4c yesterday. We shall see if these provisional values are adjusted by 1pm today.

I predicted 25.3C at Great Malvern so I'm pretty happy with that!
