Anyone seen the lean on the Washington Monument?

Given its made of marble and granite with subsoil sedimentary layers as the bedrock its feasibly possible that liquifaction has caused this. Seen a couple of forum posts around showing angular webcam images that slightly show the tip, but not as pronounced as this image if verificable.

Confirmed FAKE. Monument is unchanged, just passing on info incase anyone (like myself lol) fell for it.

'It was highly unusual': Seismologists shocked by biggest earthquake to hit Virginia in 110 YEARS

  • Earthquake of 5.8-magnitude felt across U.S. east coast
  • Biggest quake to hit Virginia area since 1897
  • Quakes east of Rocky Mountains often spread far
The 5.8-magnitude earthquake that struck in Virginia and was felt in New York and Washington D.C. today was a rare event for the east coast. But the shaking was believed to be so widespread because the tremors of the quake were shallow at between one and four miles deep. It's the strongest quake to hit the Virginia area since 1897 - and resulted in buildings such as the Capitol and Pentagon being evacuated. The quake's severity was 'highly unusual', one Brown University professor said, although it was in an area known for smaller quakes and it spread because of accommodating terrain.

'This is the largest earthquake by far that I am aware of occurring there in recent history,' seismology professor Karen Fisher said. The wide spread of the shockwaves was common for the east coast - which is largely due to the difference in the terrain, research seismologist Peggy Hellweg said in California. '(California's) ground is all of this chopped-up stuff - like a pile of marbles,' she said, which means that the waves from a quake don't spread out that far.

But in eastern America, 'what you've got there is gorgeous bedrock (and) the waves propagate beautifully.'

In addition, there is a difference in plate tectonics because the west coast is over the boundary between the North American and the Pacific. She said in the East, 'There's no driving engine in terms of the two plates sliding past each other - so that's why it's much more unusual.'

7.1 Northern Peru, 79 km down.

downgraded to 6.9 almost immediately, so I guess they're still examining data.

Now 6.8.

Still 6.8, but they've increased the depth to 137 km. It appears to be 100 km or so from any large towns.

Very strong deep earthquake with possibilty of some damage.

Due to its depth it was felt on a very wild scale.

The epicenter was close to the Brazilian border.

Telephone lines were down in the area.

We have no information about damage or injuries at this time.

We will start an article as soon as we have some news from the area.

Very interesting East Coast Earthquake update in the MailOnline http://www.dailymail...ges-struck.html

Yes its a shame when these very same media outlets in the past have labelled your average person as 'loons' simply for reporting the same phenomenon observed with their own pets, or those who report geomagnetic migraines (such as the one I experienced waking up before I even knew this quake had hit.) A shame these articles are never followed through with an apology to those they've ridiculed thoughout all the years.

The canary islands are increasing in volume to the 1000`s of small quakes and I remember this was mentioned of a danger of a tsunamia to the UK a few months ago in the paper from this,if or when a Volcano was to erupt there.

I'm glad you mentioned this Snowyowl9............I thought nothing of the big Disaster Drill the UK staged in September 2010, but to find out another big Disaster Drill in March 2011 was staged makes me realise they are prepared.

The whole of Eastern USA plus the Carribean will be gone when this mega Tsunami strikes
