Hmmmmm, 2 quakes in 3 seconds in Katla volcano in Iceland and one in the nearby Tindfjallajokull volcano. A large 3.2 one in Katla and only 2.9km deep. Interesting, she hasn't gone back to sleep just yet.

Fresh quake hits New Zealand city still struggling from February temblor

CHRISTCHURCH // Two strong aftershocks have jangled nerves in New Zealand's second biggest city, where an earthquake killed 181 people and destroyed the central district six months ago.

Since the 6.3-magnitude quake on February 22, the Christchurch region has experienced more than 4,000 aftershocks, hampering the recovery effort and reinforcing uncertainty about the future...............http://www.thenational.ae/news/worldwide/asia-pacific/fresh-quake-hits-new-zealand-city-still-struggling-from-february-temblor

The following is from a dear friend of mine:

These quakes occurred today on the same day and around the 37th parallels respectively. This is showing an angle relationship between the two. One is 6.8 the other a 6.7.

What does that mean, in simple terms. What is the significance of the 37th parallels, what is an angle relationship? I'm not looking to be convinced, I just want scientific explanations:-)

Mount Hood, the tallest mountain in Oregon, has a secret, scientists revealed. Covered by trees and plants is an earthquake fault that stretches for miles from the iconic mountain.

just shows that we are learning all the time.
