Yamkin, isn't it time you stopped with the Venus, Sun Earth alignment stuff - see linky:

http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/realtime/c3/512/

I'm still at a loss as to why you think last week's alignment would cause havoc: Earth, Sun, Venus conjuctions happen on average every 9 and a half months and no pattern has been detected by anyone who's examined the data scientifically.

Surprisingly I felt one in Felpham near Bognor, in the late 1960's I think it was. We were all sitting round the table having tea when there was a loud bang and a deep rumble under our feet. The next day I was amazed to hear in the radio that it was a small tremor and they said there was a small fault running from Chichester area out to sea and almost under our house at the time. Must have been a very small tremor though. However it was the first time that I realised the UK did experience earthquake tremors.

I live in Folkestone so we had the 4.3 magnitude in April 2007, which lasted around 20 seconds, made the whole house shake and was accompanied by a low rumbling. It caused a fair amount of damage to chimney's in the town but that was about it damage wise luckily. Then there was a much smaller one in March 2009 of 2.8 which was shorter. Not sure on the noise as I was beside a busy main road at the time!

It sometime in the late 80s/early 90s, I was in central London and on the phone to someone in Elstree, which is why we realised that it wasn't anything local: I believe the epicentre was under Worcestershire.
