We have another good covering of snow this morning - about 1.5 inches.

The snow has been on and off since around 7am - I think the forecast is for it to turn to rain in the afternoon though :D

You could be lucky too, a bit later on. The NW wind is sure to bring something your way!

And the temperature inside the showers has been getting closer and closer to zero all morning. :p:p:p

I think it's probably both:

Because of the trough, the pressure is low enough to encourage rampant shower-formation. Also the windspeed is sufficiently high to blow the showers well inland.

I don't know how "organized" the expected frontal-band will get though. It's probably just as good to wait-and-see! :p:p:p

No, it's still too warm (5C.) There was also some graupel/sleet during the end of the shower. The cold air is creeping south, but hasn't reached the NW yet.

Still plenty time though. The hail may be a sign of the cold air arriving, as the cold air seems also to be where all the showers are, and the temperature is dropping.

Notice the blue edging into Lewis and Harris from the NW. That must be a good sign for many places in the NW later-on today! :D
