Having a very heavy hail/snow shower here! The wind is gusting to severe gale I would say. The atmsphere is REALLY unstable! Its looking like a cool 24 hours!

Some heavy dark clouds passed a few miles south of Oldham, Manchester area probably got it, I'm quite high up so I can see in the direction of Manchester Airport and Jodrell Bank, and there was at least a downpour albeit only 5 mins worth I think.

Heavy snow shower in Lancaster driven on by gales, although none of it settled.

We'll have to see if it settles overnight as the really cold air comes in!

iS THE temps lower nearer the coat or something? its 5.9C here

Lancaster may be nearer the coast, but it's further north, higher up and to the east of a comparitively sheltered bay as opposed to the Irish Sea itself. Indeed the mean winter maximum temperature here is lower than at Manchester, although mean minima are about the same. Also bear in mind that the cold air is always going to reach here before it reaches Manchester.

Very dark cloud, containing SNOW, moving in from the west. 4C.

The 4pm radar's showing some pretty beefy showers skirting down the Western Fringes of the North West, should be hitting Lancaster by now

getting very heavy sleet showers here, 10 minute showers then totally clears up for 10 minutes. I can see white on the mountains to the west of me. Around 2 degrees here, but significant windchill

Snowing heavily here as well. Started as rain, so very wet, but has started to settle on cars and grass so far.
