Not alot of wind truth be told although it was abit breezy 1st thing this morning, but my god have we had some rain. A deluge is the only word that springs to mind! Although it has stopped momentarily. :):)

Eventually, a break in the endless rainfall. The sun even looking like it might pop through (although i'm still looking for a break in the clouds to see where that might be possible).

Looks like we might get a respite for a few hours or so before some heavy but sporadic showers start hitting.

Some pretty hefty and blustery showery downpours in this rainband; at least make it interesting and compensate almost for the annoying gloominess and cold of today.

Hi netweather, haven't posted for a long long time but just thought I'd share some pictures I took today.

Rained quite heavily this morning but absolutely poured for about 2 hours starting at 10.30.

Severe flood warning on the River Taff nearby, roads and schools flooded and a man told me he hadn't seen the river so high since the late 70s.

Another heavy band to come in the next few hours. :)

Some stats, amid today's horrid weather:

- So far, today has had the highest rainfall since August 12th (16.57mm), but if it continues to fall as it is doing at present, may well overtake May 28th (18.13mm) as the wettest day of 2008 - still pitiful by comparison to the 39mm rainfall on June 15th last year.

- Temperatures are also low - yesterday's high fell short of 15 degrees, making it the coolest day since May 28th, while today looks set to be still cooler, with May 17th (12.9 degrees) the most recent cooler today.

- Also notable is the fact that today's lowest atmospheric pressure is the 4th lowest of any day of 2008, with only winter storms on January 15th and March 10th (956.4hPa) as well as a recent low on August 12th (984.6hpa) falling lower on the scale.

Amazing jet black skies to the east of here with distant booms, who said rainy days were boring?

Thankfully the intense rainfall across wales is showing signs of weakening but there is lots more rain to come before it turns more sporadic overnight and showery tomorrow.

It weakened here just an extra 0.1" making 0.6" the sun even come out at just before 4 for 10/15 minutes and the wind turned SE for awhile taking it upto 14.3c so still cool but it feels milder to yesterday thats for sure.

I think all this rain is a blessing, I mean a drought would be far worse for us and many times more boring for a lot of people.

Last autumn was the driest on record and our stream didn`t dry up after last summer not surprising really.

Too many houses in this country now so a drought comes so much easier especially in the SE.

the rain has not been that bad here, with some of the other days this week being wetter than this one.

However I hope that other people who have had the torrential downpours are not that badly effected.

That really does look bad, hopefully it will turn a little drier and the situation will not get any worse.

A truly pants day here today. It's been a funny day though with persistent rain this morning with a temperature hovering at around 13.8C all morning then a pause in the rain allowed the temperature to rise to it's high of 17.0C before mother of all downpours arrived followed by another persistent spell of rain. Looks like more rain on the way in the near future too.

At this rate September is going to be wetter than August as I've already received 71.8mm in the first five days which is more than the first five days of August by a long shot.

Today's deluge has taken the monthly total for September to nearly 2 inches (exact is 48.3mm)...and it's less than 5 days in!
