Very respectable weather outside at present well for middle of January anyway, sunny and quite a mild feel due to in the main lack of any wind. I think many are about to get quite a shock with what is about to hit us come later this afternoon, awaiting that breeze to start to pick up anytime soon heralding this stormy spell.

really wild here in Ireland now, gusting 77 kts in mayo and 54 kts in dublin, driving rain, trees down here in kildare, and electricity looks like it going to go down, lights flickering on and off for a while now, worse storm in a while, and worse day time storm in a few years, neighbours barnashed just blew over wow !

Drop very calm here, but also going dark from the west, looks like it could be a wild night here, very exposed, not looking forward to this at all, but if it snow's then might change my mind.

I don't have a wind speed machine, but believe me in the last 30 minutes it is blowing a real storm out there!!

I see gusts in belfast now upto 60 mph, and steady wind speeds of 35 mph

My local radio station has issued a severe weather warning for my region; they said to expect wind gusts of around 80mph in some places.

It sounds a little bit extreme to me - but we will see what happens

After moderate rain during the night we had a pleasant sunny morning, although it has clouded over during the afternoon. Temperatures on the mild side - currently 8.8 deg C, maximum 10.9, last night's minimum 5.6. Wind fresh southerly.
