Update - Distant rumbles to the South now... so this storm is packing something...

Looking at the radarthis is the eastern fringe of a whole batch of showers over Midwales, but by far the most intense... the Radar indicates this will head up towards manchester and Liverpool, poss the fringes of Staffs/Stoke.

I hope so! It feels relatively humid outside and there are scattered showers around which are very slow moving. I had a band of very heavy showers between 10 and 11am but I hope the late afternoon to bring something better!

Despite the fact there seems to be torrential downpours every direction around here its completely dry for us in Telford.

However there are rumbles of thunder at times from the cell North West/West of here.

Is a sferic a broadband electromagnetic impulse that occurs as a result of natural atmospheric lightning discharges? Or is it something completely different?

Yeah, "Atmospheric"

Being in London atm, that would not only make me cry, it'd send me to A&E with a sudden hernia, lol

VERY interesting cell has popped up in the SW over the passed 15 minutes.

Looks like theres plenty more potential for stuff down south.

Yes at work on the Southbank looking North across the River. Very black over and beyond the Post Office Tower towards NW London. Got a visual on that cell and it looks like it is headed straight for S Herts. Paul S

Can see a heavy rain shower passing by to the south, may give us something here?

Wind has really picked up here now with the approach of this shower, looks very ominous, but looking at the radar is very small

Amazing... a proper storm after a little rumble a month or so ago...

Big flashes and huge rumbels... plenty of legs in this storm for those north and north east of Shrewsbury...

Christ that last one was close.... think its still getting closer!

First time in a few years a big storm (not the edges of) has hit Shrewsbury.

Chucking it down.
